There are different kinds of Critical States in DOA:

- Juggle(Launcher)
- Knock down
- Knock back
- Stagger(Stun)

  • Juggle is the best kind which is also the most difficult to get out of the states. Most commonly achieved from a counter hit.
  • Knock downs are the 2nd hardest because they also require counter hit but they are more common than Juggle.
  • Knock backs with Staggers are the most easiest to get cause most characters have knock back that don't require counter hits.


Juggles of course help spacing because it gets you and your opponent closer to a wall or environmental hazard.

Knock downs mostly keep opponents close to you without moving them too much but sets the opponent up for more damage if they get up improperly.

Knock backs work like juggles accept not as much damage but they can change the momentum in the match very fast especially if used near a wall or the edge of a stage.

Staggers pretty much help set up everything listed above and are the most common form of state that will happen in a match.
