DOA Launch party?

So I kept hearing people mentioning about this DOA launch party happening next month in NorCal (maybe?). Any word if it's invite only or open to the public? I'd like to know.
Thanks.

All I have heard was that the event was going to be held in San Francisco on a weekday around the game's launch.

I'm so there! I've been thinking about whether anyone'd organize something like this for NorCal. I've been saving my extra $ just in case I get enough to go down south... T-T.

The launch party is in San Francisco, but it's mainly for media. I'll have details in the relatively near future. There will be a tournament and it will be broadcast, but things are still being finalized. Official announcement is coming...

Dogg, please try to talk to your people about not having the launch party/tournament be an invite only thing. It would be really disappointing to the die-hard fans that make the effort to expand the community, attend and host tournaments if we weren't allowed to attend or compete.

It's a media event. It's hosting the finals of the tournament and will be broadcast, but in the end the event is for the media. It's definitely not open to the public, but we will be letting some players in. I just have to figure out the cap on players.

Team Ninja is in full support of Season's Beatings. You should look at it as though the launch party is the media event, and SB is the public event.

Then what or who determines who's allowed to compete? It sounds like it's going to be snowballs chance for people like me who have little to no clout in terms of offline competition that want to compete..

Sounds like only those who "won" the IPL tournaments will be allowed in. Doesn't seem very fun, however, I believe those who were attendants at the IPL's should at least be allowed in since we were there showing support for the game ;)

Always so. cal tournament, however.

To make it fair, it's mainly tournament placing at E3, Hot Import Nights and GVN. We pull from the top 8 first, then move down from there depending on availability of players.

As I said, this is mainly for the media, with Season's Beatings being for the players. That's why Team Ninja is supporting SB so much, even as much as allowing Shimbori to play in the tournament.

So you're telling me that the developers of my favorite game are going to watch some of the best DOA players in the world compete in a tournament less than an hour away from where I live and I can't get in this? Son.ov.a.bitch -_-

What about the players that placed high in those tournaments that can't afford to make it out? I recall that the IGN tourney was for the winner to have an all expense paid trip to the launch party. That mean everyone else that didn't get 1st has to come outta the pocket in order hit this up? Will those that can't make it have to give up their spot to the next person below them? Put me on that list of available players if there is one

Excuse me for asking so many questions but as you can tell I'm trying to get in this somehow whether as a competitor, bystander, or even a helping hand. I'm down for the cause!
