DOA taking itself seriously...

So first of all anyone remember Tecmo's old ads?

The whole 'I'm A Fighter' thing is really boring in comparison to some of the fun things they did back then. I think it shows in the sales too. It took DOA3 just 6 months to sell 1 million copies (on ONE hideous console), which is a figure I don't think DOA5 ever reached despite being on two.

Then you have the story. I only finished DOA5's story mode once but I have no idea what any of it was about. There was WAY too much talking for me to ever watch the cutscenes again. If I want a good story I will read a book or watch a movie. I want to see Jann Lee a punching a dinosaur and Hitomi fighting over cabbage.

And finally the gameplay. I don't mind DOA trying to get serious in this aspect but they're doing it so wrong. 5U is basically like 4 except more boring to watch because they increased the lifebar, took out most OHs (which balanced out string delays that are still present), and totally killed the ground game. Recently I've been doing a lot of local versus with the older DOA games and have come to the conclusion that 2 is the closest the series has ever been to a "real" fighting game and not a mash fest or guessing game.

Anyway I'm curious how others feel about this. Should DOA keep heading down this path or go back to the roots.

Wha? DOA5 helped give the series a boost in people actually taking it seriously it honestly needed.

Secondly, the DLC more than makes up for the supposed not hitting a mil sales on 2 different consoles(that was the main reason they are making new characters now)

And thirdly, you hate the fact that there's actual story in DOA now?
