I know he stated this in his blog but I think it's a typo..
PL probably meant to say that DoA 5 is the best DoA in 10 years..
I love DoA but even I have trouble believing that he thinks DoA 5 is the best fighting game in 10 years.

Maybe for him it is.

It what he feels about the game. Besides, not that many great of fighting games came out the past 10 years. Only ones I can think of are VF5FS, KOF XIII and MK. Not that hard to believe really.

Those were all the past couple of years, but I get what you mean, though because 2002 was right after Virtua Fighter 4, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, and other quality fighters and a little before the oddly brief drought we experienced before the new age, as it were.
