The soundtrack thing really is just kind of.... troubling to me. Shouldn't be that big a deal but it really throws me off. That's a big part of a fighting game's personality in my mind.
I mean just listen to this.
It's basically just the same, soulless loop over and over again, unless you hit a transition zone. If you go down below, the strings pick up, but that's seriously the only thing you hear -- those damn strings. No variation whatsoever. It's like they expect the fight to just be over by the time you get there. And it's an even SHORTER loop. What if I make it down there early on? I've got listen to the same 20 second loop over and over again until my head explodes? Feels more like ear rape than music after a while.
Before anyone gets any ideas, I
really don't play Tekken that much at all. So this isn't some kind of favoritism when I say is, but Tekken is just shitting all over this games soundtrack so far. Even "Urban Jungle" had a better beat and I hated that damn track. Team Ninja could really learn a few things from their sound guys.
Far as I'm concerned
this is the gold standard. It pisses me off when people don't even aim for it...
If you want to get your players in trouble with the police for speeding, get their adrenaline going.
And finally -- if you're going to troll your players, do it with a straight face.
But whatever you do.... do something. And put a little emotion into it. Christ...
Edit: You know the meme, Guiles theme goes to everything? That's because It does.
Learn something, Team Ninja.... learn....
Or just buy the rights to Guile's theme and replace all the stage music with it. Can't hurt you, to be honest.
