Two years after the destruction of the TriTower, headquarters and symbol of DOATEC...
Helena Douglas has begun the task of rebuilding DOATEC, this time with the aim of using its technology for peaceful ends. She has ordered the dissolution of the Biotechnology Division, the indefinite suspension of the Military Division's Projects Alpha, Epsilon and Omega, and the expulsion of all members of the Donovan faction from DOATEC's offices around the world.
Now in the same position once held by her father, DOATEC founder Fame Douglas, Helena has announced that she intends to hold the fifth Dead or Alive tournament, to show the world the principles and philosophies upholding the new DOATEC.

Locking this thread until the game is released. When the story mode is played then it can be discussed on a deeper level. As of now there is a thread that is open for any speculation on the story.

Thread unlocked. Quite a few are now playing the game. Though it will be a big spoiler thread for the next 3 days. I am unlocking because I keep seeing threads created pertaining to the story mode.

If you can help it please hold back on any information that the rest of us don't already know about the story before you got to play the game. Thanks.

Shouldn't people expect spoilers when they enter a thread about Story Mode anyway?

Not when the mass majority has the game. But I do get your point. Not everyone will have it so a story mode thread can be seen as a big spoiler thread, to some.

I enjoyed the story. Surely isnt the best thing on earth but it was entertaining enough. Some hilarious moments, some cool moments and some eh moments.

I just finished it last night and it was a total blast!

People around know how much I LOVE DOA FANSERVICE and DOA5 was FULL OF IT.

Those of you who know the ins and outs of characters as well as I do will be in for a treat, as well as if you played through or watched the DOA Dimensions storyline (Available in the FSD Media Section YOUR WELCOME!)

I won't go into to much now but for anyone who's finished it, let this be the discussion thread.

It was full of cheesy goodness. And MILK. I'm gonna assume we can put spoilers here freely.

I watched the DOAD storyline a while ago, but I'm not sure if I remember everything. I think the fact that many characters weren't involved in the DOA Tourney was a shame, but it was still fun nonetheless. I like how Jann Lee lost to so many people yet still won the tourney, haha. Gotta feel extra bad for Hitomi though, she didn't even get an epilogue. So much hope dashed. I would also have loved to of played as Christie.

I have no idea why Hayate and Ayane needed to kill clone Kasumi. Hell she beat Alpha-152, and seemed kinda on the good guys side. I say more Kasumis the merrier.

Ending wasn't as awesome as DOA 4, but I liked the overall flow and how they handled story mode (although the time skipping was jarring early on).

And uh, what was the bit at the end meant to say? That Donovan has created an even more ultimate Kasumi, who... sheds tears?

Hayabusa wasn't responsible for every major event in this story. Therefore, I feel comfortable in stating this story is not canon and is instead merely a side-story, a gaiden if you will, where the other characters can feel important.

I was very impressed by the story mode. Yes, it was hella cheesy, but the fact that it was something you could actually sit down and play through, rather than a tacked on CG ending was fantastic. Not quite as good as MK9 but pretty damn close. I'd really like to see all fighters with a more robust story mode like this. Lol, at Christie and Lisa not getting chapters, were they they only ones? Also, Brad and Eliot need there own side game this time around.

The next day...

That was my only problem with the story mode in all seriousness. The story was made almost completely nonsensical by the constant movement in the timeline. It all makes sense but not without more consideration than necessary.

I don't understand why Christie and Lisa didn't get a chapter when they're involved in DOATEC while useless Eliot and Brad who have nothing to do with the main storyline get a chapter.

Because Eliot and Brad were the best part of story mode? A needed reprieve from the melodrama of the main story (see ninjas). Real talk, half the cast really doesn't matter for the plot (lol lei-fang). That being said, you'd think Christie and Lisa would have their own chapters, seeing as their involved w/ the plot or whatever. If it makes you feel better, they sure do appear in a lot of scenes. I'm pretty sure we see more of Christie (has more relevant scenes) than we do of Kokoro for example. So is it worse to get no chapter at all or get a completely irrelevant one? Which is the greater snub???

...or you could be Pai, who didn't get to appear in story mode at all. Burn.
