DOAD SpotPass content

This is a complete set of all of the downloadable costumes that were released for DOAD through SpotPass back in 2011.

Download Link

In total, this content adds:

1 new costume each for Bass, Bayman, Brad Wong, Ein, Eliot, Gen Fu, Hayabusa, Hayate, Jann Lee, Leon, and Zack.
2 new costumes each for Christie, Helena, La Mariposa, and Tina.
3 new costumes each for Ayane, Hitomi, Kasumi, Kokoro, and Leifang.

For Citra:
Launch Citra, then right-click on the "DEAD OR ALIVE Dimensions" game and select "Open Extra Data Location." In the new window that appears, extract the contents of the "For Both" and "For Citra" folders from this download.

For a Modded 3DS/2DS:
Copy or FTP the contents of the "For Both" folder from this download to the "\Nintendo 3DS\<32 digits>\32 digits>\extdata\00000000\0000034f\" location on your 3DS's SD card, and copy or FTP the contents of the "For Modded 3DS" folder from this download to the "\3ds\Checkpoint\extdata\" location on your 3DS's SD card. Install Checkpoint on your 3DS if you haven't already. Launch Checkpoint on the 3DS, press X to switch to extdata and then restore DEAD OR ALIVE Dimensions extdata.

October 2025 EDIT: Originally, I posted this thread with methods for getting this content to work with the Citra emulator and on a modded 3DS, but since then, development of the Citra emulator has ceased and it also seems that the 3DS method is inconsistent and hasn't been working. So I guess this thread will now just serve as an archive of the downloadable content data itself so that it at least still exists somewhere so that someone can hopefully get it working consistently in the future, for 3DS hardware and/or with whatever modern alternatives exist for 3DS emulation.

Hey there.

So I'm using a Modded 3DS, I followed all of the instructions and have gotten the costumes to work without a problem. Thank you for that.

I'm curious about the figurines though, I started at 97.4% collected before and it was still at that afterwards, for some reason those aren't installing. I've collected all the other figurines in game, so I know I'm not missing though, and I honestly haven't gotten any of the SpotPass ones. Just curious, I've actually been looking for a means to complete my figurines and this is about the closet lead that I have.

Those remaining figurines you can't get anymore, back when the game dropped there were special spotpass challenge fights that let you fight certain characters using the developer's ghost data or something and if you beat them you got the figurines. You can't get them anymore tho since they're not doing that anymore

Okay, I did actually get all the SpotPass figurines back in the day and have them on my own 3DS so I included the data in here, but I wasn't actually sure if they unlock the same way as the costumes. I guess they don't unfortunately. There might not be any way to acquire them now then.

I'll just edit the original post so that it doesn't mention them.

That's unfortunate. I would have figured there was some kind of work around to grab them. As a completion, that'll annoy me, but hey, what can you do?

Every time I restore the extdata it says “restored successfully” but nothing in game changes am I missing something?

Hello, it does not work for me. I performed the correct steps for my modded 3DS, but Checkpoint shows nothing for DOAD after switching to the extdata menu, and when I open the game it says extdata is corrupted. What should I do?

Welcome to Free Step Dodge! If you have any additional concerns, questions or an idea for an article please DM me.

@Forlorn Penguin I know you aren't exploring FSD as regularly as you used to, but I'm sure if you ever get around to addressing this, we would appreciate it greatly. Hope you are doing well!

You're not the only one. I tried it on my modded 3DS and I have the same situation as you. Because of that, I lost the costumes I obtained via Spotpass in the past but also the exclusive figurines.

When I originally went through with this, I was able to get the content working on a modded 3DS, but based on the above comments, it seems like it isn't working consistently. Unfortunately, it's been years since I did this myself and I'm not knowledgeable about the 3DS system in general, so I really couldn't say what the issue is, nor can I remember any specific details now. I don't even have access to the hardware anymore to be able to try to figure anything out either.

I'll just cross out the modded 3DS method in the original post and have this thread exist just as an archive for the content now, just so that the data at least still exists online somewhere in case someone else can figure out a more solid way of getting it to work in the future.

So, I guess we have to wait until the team behind hShop figure out how to release the Spotpass content to the modded 3DS without corruption. As of right now, DOAD's Spotpass content is successfully archived.
