Sorwah, I think its a good Idea.
just like other sites, there can be multiple generic topics for each character in a sense ..
- (character) Q & A
- (character) Vids
- (character) combos
- (character) move properties
- (character) burst setups
- (character) maximizing damage from dangerzones
- (character) frame traps
- (character) matchups
- (character) story
- (character) images
- (character) fan art/cosplay

I can see this happening with all the cast ..
It would be a total mess looking for what you need all in 1 forum ..

then if anyone wanted to create their own character related thread they just go ahead and do so.. in that specific characters sub-forum

That looks pretty good.

I wonder if when the game is released we'll have enough varied content to deserve a whole board dedicated to a character.

Reading is fundamental.
The character-specific sub-forums will get opened once the game is out. Matt already stated so several times before.

Can't we hust have DOAC CHaracter specific topics? At least for the latest game, DOA5? :)
There's enough of them floating around in the DOA5 forum. Also, what the hell is DOAC?!

The point of the OP is that creating them now is far more beneficial than creating them after the fact when the mods will have 1000's of posts to align in the right thread.
It would be about 20 minutes of work with a slower hand, to create one for every known character at the moment. It might take days after release.

Most of the post/threads in the DOA5 forums is fluff anyways. Only a select few has had the chance to play the recent builds. Even with that, the final build more or less will not have some of the things the select few who have played the game are discussing. So admins/mods will not have to align any post to fit into the sub-forums.

Not to be rude but, the staff of FreeStepDodge.com are fully aware of what we are doing. Everything will be just fine.

Yeah I didn't mean to be rude either. I fully mean well. :)
I can be a bulldog about my arguments, sorry about that man.

It's a double-edged sword. I personally would rather create the boards and move the designated topics to their forums myself if I feel the board is too crowded. However, if I make new boards that don't have enough content to warrant an entire board, then the boards will just look dead along with the site in that regards.

Additionally, the problem I have with character division boards is isolation. Players will only go to their character section and information about matchups and such can be lost because they won't go to other character sections or the game discussion, as one member proved with missing the general discussion board altogether even though it's the first board listed on the forum index.

I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just saying it doesn't need to be done at this time. There's a search feature on the forum for you to find any topic or post by whomever you want as well, and you can watch specific threads to keep up to date when they're posted.

I wanted to suggest giving cool names to the combo threads of each character like for example naming Brad Wong's official combo thread "I'm going to party like it's 2099" but I dunno if people will like the idea.
You would prolly get keyboard eyerolls for that... lol.

I remember some sub-forums in DOAC like Bass and Tengu's (and a couple more characters) only had a handful of threads and those were very short-lived.

I understand, thanks for elaborating :)

The only argument I have would be a personal preference and opinion on it so I won't push the matter.
Figured I'd suggest something I thought would make sense, don't mean to sound like a regular wiseass when I just got here :D

In sc5 the viola forum has just a few topics (like 10 15? something like that) and although some of them have long discussions the stickys are very helpful! i usually use more than one character i dont like to main just one or two since we dont have a competitive scene here so i dont really care about just winning, but i enjoy learning stuff for every char i find interested so it would be good to at least every character has his forum so we could just go there to ask question find combos etc

There are some threads within the DOA5 section which some threads are talking about a specific character and I think a DOA5 character forum section needs to be made IMO.

Not a bug.

However, noted, along with other feedback I've received. I just don't feel it's a priority at this time and will be address in the upcoming month.
