A different demo focused on the battle system sounds interesting, leave the exploring for the final game xD
Btw, i know someone who bought FF Type 0 HD for 20~ euros two weeks ago, it was a first day copy and came with the Duscae demo. If i manage to save up some money i'll try buying it next week, if not i'll just wait for the free one lol. Besides, i would like to play Type 0 HD too, i've already tried the psp version, but i didn't like that much.

20€ for Type 0 and Duscae sounds actually like a great deal... I paid 30€ for just the demo and let someone else play Type 0. I thought it was totally worth it. ;)

I guess that's cool? Id rather have the full thing though

The full game? Who wouldn't? XD

I've been on the final fantasy wikia and it sounds cool with details like you'll see giant footprints leading to dungeons and little huts with people living in them. I'm also Im interested in seeing this city based on Manchester.

Also the capital city of Lucis, insomnia looks just huge so I wonder how much of that will be explorable. And on the note of cities cause I'm too obsessed with them obviously the countries aren't going to have real world number of cities but I hope each country at least has a few.

Second demo is going to be the free public demo. Episode Duscae is what you get when you purchase Type 0.

XII and XV don't necessarily exist in the same world. They share the same mythos (actually, XIII, Type 0, and Versus 13 all initially did) but XV might be different at this point. I think I recall l'Cie being mentioned at some point in something XV related in the past year.

What I took away from LR's ending (which I saw on youtube because I played like 15% of the game before dropping it) was the more realistic world that was created is the one FFXV is set in especially with the "this is a fantasy based on reality" tagline.

XIII and Type 0 is still in the same universe. Versus was supposed to as well but it seems XV wants to completely wash itself of that...whether it makes sense to or not on the other hand...

Exploration in Lucis will be limited, Tabata said. It is occupied by the empire and partly destroyed. :/ Important parts of the story will take place there however.
It would probably be just too much to make this city widely explorable. Even GTAV's Los Santos would pale in comparison to this metropolis:

Yeah I didn't expect to be able to explore all of it considering it looks at least twice the size of Los Santos. So long as we can drive around a good bit of it with interesting sites that are varied I'll be happy.

To be honest I also doubt that will be possible. When XV was still XIII Versus gameplay segments of battling with monsters and mechs in the streets of Insomnia (the actual name of the city) were shown, apparently close to the very beginning of the game:

Much later when the game became FFXV, Tabata mentioned (I think it was in one of the first Active Time Reports) that the beginning of the game had completely changed. You will not be in Insomnia anymore. He hinted however that Insomnia would be/could be featured towards the very end of the game. But it sounded more as if a battle or something would take place there and not exploration. Similar to how game levels in Final Fantasy XIII would work? So, I really wouldn't look forward to be able to explore this city. :/ But there will be the beautiful Havanna-like Lestallum, Venice-like Altissia and a few other so far unknown cities and towns as a compensation. :)

Okay. I'm happy there will at least be the other cities to explore. To be honest when I thought about exploring Insomnia I couldn't think of how they could make it work because its very grid locked. Not to mention it seems very just skyscrapers everywhere and not much else.

The other cities them more exploration friendly with lots of places to walk and see. That's something I wish there was more of in 13. Places you can just play mini games like Chocobo racing and do side quests. Gran pulse is the only place you can really explore. Speaking of which I'm actually leaving pulse now that I've grinded so hopefully I don't get horrible wreaked.

Considering how close they are to completion they really have to do something about that desert area. Because something is up with its lighting or something. I like the creature though so there's that.

That's where you will probably like Lightning Returns, LR has 4 areas and they're all explorable with side missions to do.

Who's is actually how you level up in LR lol

By now there's consensus on different forums that Square Enix is directly taking these screens from the development team from unfinished/work in progress builds of the game like in the development progression video:

Also the UI you see on the screen is actually from last September. The game's marketing guy must be on vacation...

Okay so hopefully then the latest version looks a lot better than what these pictures show. Because it was weird how the game looked really good but then in the pictures it looked rubbish. So it being a work in progress makes sense.

I'm stuck between if I should just complete 13 or if I should also complete the sequels. I'll have to see how I feel when I complete 13.

The sequals are arguably better except XIII-2 that's the weakest story and design wise but alot better than xiii gameplay wise.

LR has the best gameplay and design but relies itself too much on XIII-2s cliffhanger ending.

Okay maybe I'll check XIII-2 out next. I knew quite a bit about 13 before I got it but I know virtually nothing about the 13-2.

If you can run it I reccomend PC version, it has Lightnings story dlc built in which is vital for Lightning Returns.

If not you'll have to purchase it separately.

Honestly up to you at this point.

I liked the entire trilogy so my point is gonna be a little biased so...

- FFXIII is honestly a mix between the hardest game in the saga or the second hardest game in the saga. Mainly because of the fact that you got Haste, Bravery and Faith on complete dial and learning how to stagger becomes easier the more you fight an enemy and know when they are open and the more you know about how to keep the stagger gauge afloat. The towns not being in the game so to speak never really bothered me because mainly, I just never gave a crap about towns. They honestly done nothing in past games but be window dressing and you will barely go to them again past plot or if they connect to somewhere you should care for.
The linear aspect of the game is a shame though which is something XIII-2 and especially LR gets rid of.

- XIII-2 is the easiest game in the saga...until you reach DLC content. That doesn't mean the game isn't hard at times(If you don't grind and fight certain enemies), it's just far more lenient with the changes to the battle system. While you stupidly have no more Haste, Bravery and Faith on demand(only certain monsters have it, either as spells or Feral Link), you no longer pose when you change paradigms for the first time, the battles remain pretty quick themselves and the DLC bosses will easily give you some real challenge with the newly designed battle system. And making the best monsters in the game can easily take you lots of time...but sadly, the game can become pretty easy since at times, you don't really need to debuff enemies at all because a good chunk of them is stupid brittle.
Yeah and the story is the weakest by far, the characters themselves aren't too bad though. But the game itself is pretty non-linear with how you can approach it(you can literally leave an area entirely, head into a different one and then come back to that area exactly before you left it.)

- LR can definitely be stated to be the hardest in the series. The game is easily the most non-linear of the series and it's VERY easy to die alot and screw up in the early game due to the massive discrepancy of certain enemy types as well as learning the battle system.
It's story is also pretty so-so but again, I honestly liked the character progression though. Word to the wise, there's an ability that stops the flow of time for the game(since the game is on a time-limit, no spoilers for that), DON'T SPAM IT. Despite everyone and their mothers telling you otherwise, you got way more time than you think you do and wasting that makes it harder at times to easily recover in battle(since the EP has some useful abilities tied to it). Mainly, it's better to actually see the battle system of LR before really getting into the game because it's that different(damn near heading into KH territory).
