That actually looks pretty cute at that stage. In fact pretty much everything's cute in IX ( especially Vivi! )

Speaking of unfinished rpgs at some point I have to go back and try to complete XII!
You mentioned you never completed FFX the best cheaty tip I could give you if you dont want to grind is use Yojimbos Zanmato to one shot the bosses on the first turn.
Vivi's great though and before I knew about Final Fantasy Vivi was the only thing from it I knew about.

never could get into FF12. aside from being completely unable to dodge despite having free movement i didn't like the art style at all.

What the hell! I thought IX was supposed to be a more kid friendly FF? This is more horrific than anything in the XIII trilogy!

For some reason when I saw it my mind instantly thought of a bathbomb!
It looks cool though. It looks really surrealist and like the kinda thing you'd fight in an old Kirby game! Nice back story too.

It actually means it was designed to go back to being an actual fantasy game, since 7 and 8 had strayed too much into sci fi and steampunk

IX seems kind of Steampunk to with the airship and Victorian style. I get what you mean though. I'm more inclined to the sci fi style for Final Fantasy since the first game I started with was XIII which took place inside of an artificial planet that seemed to be based off of a "ring world".
it's one of the harder ones in my opinion. those early mooks can and will kill you if you arent careful.
