*two too large gifs*

This was the only part in the demo, when I truly felt, that this was a current generation game. This scene is just spectacular! What you can't see in these gifs is, how huge Ramuh actually is, when grabbing Noctis, and what you also can't see, because it is night here, how high he flies above the Duscae region. When this scene triggers at day, you can see the whole region underneath him. That really had to stress the PS4's and Xbone's hardware and that wouldn't have been possible on the last generation consoles.

Sorry for double posting, but no one said anything after my last post a few days ago. :(

I started, to really like the main cast of FF XV (except Noctis, he's a bore). I'm especially amazed, how wonderfully Square Enix modeled and animated them. It's so much fun watching them. :D Here some pics of their highly expressive character models:

Prompto:
(You can tell, he doesn't really want to be in the middle of nowhere. XD)

Gladiolus:
(He's a fun dude! :) Sadly his English voice over makes him appear more serious, than he really is.)

The PS4 photo compression makes the file sizes really small (about 150kb-300kb each photo), so I hope, you don't mind, if I didn't put the pics in spoilers.

I don't like the way they made the hair. They tried to make it more realistic by doing a ton of strands and it ended up looking wiry like they used too much hair gel. DOA5's hair in comparison looks really soft and nice despite being a lot less detailed.

I totally agree. They said, that of the about 100k polygons of each character, about 20k are used for just the hair. (As a comparison, Soul Calibur V's characters are made of about 20k polygons.) But more polygons does not necessarily mean, it looks better in the end. It does look actually worse...like straw or as you said, wire. The stark aliasing makes it even worse... I hope, SE get's the hang of it until release.

Assassins Creed Unity also wasted a lot of polygons on advanced hair graphics...

...but it ended up looking really weird. At least to me. Please disregard the glitched face. XD

So, earlier today Square Enix held this conference evaluating the Duscae demo feedback by Japanese, North American and European players.
Seems like the lock-on system, the camera, the dumb AI and the poor frame rate were the main points of critique by fans. Tabata promised to look into all of this and some of these points are already being improved right now.
In each region there was one concern, that was named particularly often and thus came to the attention of Square Enix.
NA: Noctis' English voice sounded unfitting for the character. Even Tabata joked, he sounded like Batman. ;)
This is already being fixed. Noctis will sound younger and more approachable in the final game.
Europe: Cindy is too sexualized. While Square Enix pretended not to see it that way (she is just being energetic and outgoing, lol), they promised, to overthink, how she will be portrayed in the game. So maybe slightly less shots of her ass and boobs during cut scenes? ;)
Japan: The game is too difficult. Tabata announced, there will be different difficulty settings in the final game, so everyone can enjoy it best.

Also, Tabata announced a patch for Episode Duscae, that will improve the game, like getting rid of bugs (no exploring outside the boundaries anymore), improving targeting, camera and frame rate, adding some new fighting mechanics (roll dodging, weapon use, team attacks) and even new quests for the characters. The patch will be released between mid May till end of May. When the patch has been released, Square Enix plans another Active Time Report.

Final Fantasy XV will not be on E3, but there might be a new trailer. FFXV will be back on Gamescom in Germany though, with exiting news.

Japan's complaint was it was too hard? That's kind of weird to me out of all things.

The news about the patch is great. I gotta try to finally do this out of bounds glitch before they fix it though D:

Many in Japan also complained, they wouldn't understand the objective of the missions and 28%(!!) of all Japanese players did apparently not even finish the demo. x__X' Maybe Japanese FF fans had these problems, because FFXV is much closer to a Western RPG, than how Final Fantasies usually work. Many might not have been familiar with the way things work now.

Here is the complete conference. It's a little long and boring.

Yeah, you will also need some practice, getting hit by a car the right way. I only got it to work twice so far after trying it a dozen of times. Here the fruit of my hard labor:

Selfie with me and my boy Titan. :D

dafuq europe , cindy outfit is the beacon of light among the darkness

Nah, it's just bad design, which is additionally overly sexualized, almost to a comedic effect. Look, a fan redesigned her and here she is still sexy, but her clothes also work for a mechanic and she looks energetic and outgoing (how SE wanted her to be).

Much better than this:

I'll be honest, I didn't finish the demo because I found it to be boring, the setting kind of (it pains me to say it but) ugly/blah for the most part, and the 15fps framerate dips were driving me crazy.

It doesn't help they chose a shade of green I hate for the plants so I might be biased here

And I thought, I was the only one thinking exactly this. XD The colors of the nature are weirdly dull and unattractive. It's hard to describe. The grass isn't really lush and green and the sky isn't really bright and blue... Also, I felt, that older cross generation games like Dragon Age Inquisition or GTA5 rendered natural environments much better and cleaner. I guess, the FFXV makers spend more time optimizing the game engine for beautifully detailed characters with flashy hair and their animations (both for the hair and characters ;)).

Oh, by the way @Chapstick, in the conference they promised to fix the aliasing for the final game version, so the hair won't look as wire-like and pixelated in the end.

Yes, Dragon Age Inquisition is GORGEOUS. They really knew how to make beauuutifulll settings, I was so impressed. There wasn't a single location that made me go 'meh.' Episode Duscae has some nice elements like the giant lake creatures and the crap off in the distance but they're outweighed by everything else. It has it's moments like this
is really nice with the lighting changing the tone of everything making the atmosphere warm with colors that go nicely together.
