In two weeks it releases in selected cinemas here in the West. It was supposed to be available at the end of September with the Deluxe and some other game editions too. The regular blu-ray and DVD on it's own are available in October...which would now be still over a month before the possible new release date of the game.

By the way I am warming to Regis new look (and the high fantasy look of the Kingdom of Lucis):

He isn't the handsome Yakuza boss of Shinjuku anymore...

...but still pretty cool in his own right.

Okay well I'll be sure to go to the cinema to watch it then. And yeah I really like Regis' look in XV, I like it more than his old look when it was Versus 13.

i don't know if you've seen this before, but i found a guy doing a series of breakdown for the Dissidea characters move sets. considering all we ever get are japanese videos im really glad to see these.

God, the game looks so fun! Extra points for the breakdown covering who interested me the most

yeah even though a lot of the values are likley to change it sure helps you know the basics like how certain attack moves are buffing/debuffing on hit. i had no idea that was happening or that Zidane was apparently doing that constantly.

Some interesting leaks about FFXV's development and it's roots as Versus XIII came to light today.
You can be at ease and read further since they are not going to spoil anything of the actual game and it's story. ;) The information comes from a guy who also knew about Iris (Gladio's sister) and the DLC plans ahead of time, so his information seems legit.
He says that fans have been romanticizing Versus XIII and Stella's role. Versus XIII was mostly just a very rough concept by Nomura and some fancy cutscenes especially produced to be presented as trailers and Stella wasn't really fleshed out either. They scrapped her pretty early and replaced her with Luna as they reworked the story and noticed Stella only had little space and just didn't work out.
In 2010 there existed a demo of the game behind closed doors that was really poorly received. Nomura seemed to have bitten off more than he could chew and after some years the director's job was passed onto Tabata (announced in 2014) who is known for his pragmatic and straightforward approach.
When Nomura still worked on the game they actually were planning 3 different games (just what Nomura is planning to do with the FFVII Remake). The games were supposed to be 20-25 hours long. What we get now is a merger of those three games.

No offense to Nomura, lol, but he should rather stick with being a character designer. XD He seems to be a major pain the ass for Square Enix. His other works as a director include the Advent Children movie and the Kindgdom Hearts series which is infamous for being convoluted and split into an unnecessary multitude of titles, including Kingdom Hearts 3 which is for many years stuck in development hell. Now he is working on the FFVII Remake series. Doesn't sound too good if you ask me...

Yeah the kingdom hearts series should have stuck to consoles, instead its on mobile devices and lots of different systems. ( I still like them though )

Strange to see that versus 13 was just really some trailers and maybe wasn't actually made. I'm happy XV isn't going to be 25 hours long.

It also means I'm keeping my expectations for the FFXII Remake series in check. With Nomura the road of it's development could turn out to be pretty long and winded, as with all his projects. The games will be probably rather short too. About 25 hours long? Which is for me personally too short of a time to really engross myself in an RPG.

Yeah I'm not sure how to feel about the 7 remake with the episode thing. So I guess it will be a long time before it comes out.

Still no certainty regarding the delay... :/ In Japan, where it is already Monday afternoon, everything's still the same:

The game will by the way be 45gb in size, says the digital game cards that were released in Japan today (also a sign the delay might not be true since they have the old release date on them):

For a big open-worldish game that's moderate. Witcher 3 base game is 35gb and GTAV even 55gb.

It really all depends on how much extra stuff is in the game and optimization.

MGSV was just 24GB and that game is huge if not slightly empty outside of guard posts and animals. As well TONS of stuff to do, so I imagine FFXV will be even bigger.

I do hope they can perfect the 30fps in retail though, frames drops are fairly noticeable in 30fps games these days. Shame they couldn't get 60fps which tbe norm nowadays

Damn...

"TOKYO / LONDON / LOS ANGELES (Aug. 15, 2016) – To deliver the iconic FINAL FANTASY experience to audiences around the world, SQUARE ENIX® today announced that the global release date for FINAL FANTASY® XV will be November 29, 2016.

This release date will allow the development teams time to further polish and conduct quality testing so that the reality of the game can match the expectations of both the fans and the creative teams.

“From the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series. Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this,” said Hajime Tabata the game director. “As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want FINAL FANTASY XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”

So disappointing... I had still hopes it was all BS... .__.

Wooow lol

Way to make your Uncovered event completely pointless xD maybe they should have waited before announcing any release date until they were 100% certain it was nearly finished.

Also, I'm 100% fine with this, it's only 2 months and November is a fairly slow month gaming for me personally anyway.

It's only two months and Tuesday is a release date most people are comfortable with.

I gotta say I know this is probably disappointing af to the people that wanted it but as someone who doesn't have much interest this is really funny considering the big deal they made about the september date

For them to capture new players (me) this was a bad move. October - Desember are already full of games I've been waiting on for some time now.
New Tomb Raider, Last Guardian, Watchdogs 2, Gravity Rush 2 and then South Park The Fractured but Whole.
I'll probably nab it next year in a sale though.

It's really smart to put it out right after the next main pokemon game lol that shouldn't affect sales at all especially with pokemon at its most popular in probably over a decade

I'd recommend you do that anyway tbh, its a big risk trying out a franchise for the first time especially spending full RRP.

Nice to see Tomb Raider on your list there, as a Tomb Raider fan since the very first game I can say Rise is a good game.
Its not the best TR out there but its better than other games in the franchise*cough* Angel of Darkness *cough*
