No man's sky? I like the visuals, but I'm not sure I could get into a game like that, that type of stuff isn't my thing. I'm hoping Voliton makes another Saints Row game, I really enjoyed the vanilla 3rd game, so over the top and funny. Plus Troy Baker and Laura Bailey killed it with their voice acting.
There's like billions of stars and each one has a solar system with different planets and the different planets all have different wildlife and landscapes to discover.

Is no one else interested in No Man's Sky? D:

I usually like huge open worlds and exploration in games but somehow this doesn't spark my interest...like at all. XD Is there any goal in this game? Are all the planets randomly generated? It will completely lack the unique, handmade, artistic qualities that I like so much...

I think the goal is to reach the center of the galaxy/universe but there's plenty of side stuff to do if you choose to. I believe all the worlds are randomly generated the same way minecraft's are and that's actually part what makes it appeal to me so much.

No Man's Sky looks visually appealing but I can't tell what it plays like from any of the media available. That doesn't bode well and turned me off of the game.

Its similar to a concept that me and a friend came up with years ago, (which immediately turns me off) but if everything is just randomly generated then I don't really care.

It kills the sense of exploration when its randomly generated.

So far from what I've seen, the gameplay is discovering species, ruins, civilizations, learning to communicate and interact with alien races, fighting with enemy ships and space pirates, and stuff like that.
It kills the sense of exploration when its randomly generated.
How? Like seriously one of my favorite things in minecraft is inputting random seeds and exploring them to see what I find.

minecraft also has temples, volcanoes, massive caverns, mountains, different climates, and then you get to the absurd natural structures that don't even exist in real life

meanwhile No Man's Sky is basically just Dr.Seuss landscapes

In the sense that it doesn't really feel like a discovery when it was randomly generated. It literally wasn't there before you got there.

minecraft also has temples
as will No Man's Sky
volcanoes
As far as I know no it doesn't. Closest naturally occurring thing is lava pools.
massive caverns
Don't know about this in NMS yet
mountains
they talked about mountains in that video
different climates
likely also in NMS

This looks like a seed error where a bunch of blocks didn't load (which is common). Cool though

You say that like it's a bad thing

I guess we have different feelings of what discovery is

And I guess I really am the only one excited for this game on fsd at least lol

No mans sky looks super bland to me, then again I don't really like open world games anyways. Just looks like aimless wandering.

Anyways, Overwatch looks cool, really liking the art design to the game.

Speaking of they just released this gameplay vid today

Shows a different climate, stuff about caverns, communicating with alien species and learning language, "wanted level" and enemies, crafting, no maps which idk how I feel about, no load times, space travel, space combat, and the scale of planets and the universe

I feel like No Man's Sky would be Gran Pulse: The Game. Lots of beautiful environments to explore but so desolate save for the local wildlife.

EDIT:
What I'm anticipating this year:
  • Pokemon Sun & Moon
  • Persona 5
  • I am Setsuna
  • Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse

TBA/No official release mentioned:
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy (when it gets its eventual PS4 release)

I'm seeing that quite a few are into Mirror's Edge, this pleases me greatly. Hoping I hear about being in the closed beta if thats happening still.

The first Mirror's Edge game is essentially a demo/proof of concept for Catalyst, anyone who liked the first game has been waiting a long time for this one. The removal of shooting and going open world is the best part.

Also, It's really going to have a beta?
