Hayate vs. Hayabusa (help me choose)

I'm very new to DOA (have played older ones on occasion) and DOA5 is really looking like fun and I think i'll be picking it up as my next competitive fighter.

For my first character i think i want to play either Hayate or Ryu (gotta love ninjas) but i can't decide who would be a better fit. I don't care what the learning curve is on either character but if you think it's important to specify then go ahead. I want to know what their playstyles are and how they differ.
Now I am new, but please go into detail how each character plays so i can have an idea before i go and pick up the game.

If you're familiar with another character then feel free to discuss/tell me how they play in regards to the rest of the cast as well.

The decision will ultimately fall on you. Play with both and try to be as good as possible and if you really have to decide on just one just try to notice which one gives you better results and makes you feel more comfortable.

Yea Hayabusa is top tier, he's got a large amount of [evasive] moves, one of the strongest grabs in the game, and if that wasn't enough, he has an air grab to finish off his juggles.

Hayate is straight forward, the most evasive thing you'll get out of him is his charge move which can cause the opponent to whiff right in front of you if used right. From there you can also move directly into your wind dash. He's more of a rush down character really, you'll see the best out of him when you're constantly knocking your opponent down. His wind dash also crushes highs. I've been sliding under Dragon Kicks all morning.

It's up to you, and what your playstyle is more so about. Try em both.
