Recently, the guys at Eurogamer picked a great time to post an article about the Heart Of Gaming arcade in London. While Mark "Firebug" Starkey isn't the only one deserving credit in this article, it's goes without saying that the accomplishment itself is very gratifying and the recognition helps us realize the scope and scale of what we have on our hands and help do a better service for the community.
Shout outs to Joff and Bulletproof for being the number one soldiers in this struggle and Shadowforce for sacrificing his time and money to come and help us out on some important occasions where help was very needed (and playing some DOA with me when the place was quiet).
What matters now is to build something for the future, including the UK and surrounding European community and supporting our great players, from the stoic and seasoned English players, to the energetic Germans, to the old school French tag players, to the informative and civilized Scandinavian and even the scattered-but-still-there Eastern-European players out there
What we in the HOG have been trying to do is to try and create an atmosphere where DOA players can actually get together and do their thing. I've been trying for the past couple of months to hold regular monthly DOA5 & SCV tourneys.
While there have at times been some very good turnouts, at other times there have also been some 'disappointing' turnout which I've gone through in my little rant thread which ended up being productive and brought some of new players out of their holes. While there are still things which me and you (the community) can do to improve the current health of the community, we at making a decent start and I was very happy with the UC2 turnout. UC3 was good too, but that time we only ended up with 4 players, so I'm expecting a better turnout this time, hopefully.
Right now, it's may be a little too late for some of you to get down to the HOG this Sunday for UC4, unless you're driving, but I'll be making frequent threads and tagging everyone who may show interest.
So, help us help you. If you think can make some monetary sacrifices to come down on either monthly or bi-monthly time slots, then get to it.
