How do you go about playing other games?

Well, now that I'm a working, studious adult -- I find it much harder to play games. When I was a teenager I loved playing rpg, fps (Unreal Tournament), and retro games like Final Fantasy VII, Goldeneye and Donkey Kong. Now... I hardly play any games. Infact the only games I actually enjoy playing are: DOA, NG and Hearthstone (maybe the new Unreal Tournament).

I own almost 1,000 games. I've made a disturbing hobby of collecting rare ones, and I have every version ever made of the DOA series for absolutely no reason. But to honest, I feel like with the highly limited amount of games I play now I now have the chance to get good at particular games, and really study. I like this feeling better. And coupled with the amount of time I spend with the DOA community, maybe I don't have time for other games whether I like it or not.

How do you play games? Is DOA the only game you play, or do you play all kinds and DOA is just one of your side dishes??

I mostly enjoy playing fighting games like Tekken, King of Fighters, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat and of course, Dead or Alive. I grew up playing these kinds of games as a kid (I literally have no restrictions) on my PS1 and Dreamcast but I do enjoy non-fighting games like The Sims, Pokémon and lately, I grew very fond of playing Animal Crossing.

I was definitely supportive of Capcom games back then that I re-bought 2 copies of Rival Schools, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter EX A when my 1st copies died on me. The transition got harder when PS1 was on the verge of declining. I had to move on to Dreamcast as there were a number of games that sparked my interests (Dead or Alive 2, Power Stone) but it was however, short-lived. I went handheld with GBA and that's what made my start on Pokémon. Then I made a step back to Sony when PSP was the trend of the moment. Eventually, my brother supposedly gave his PS3 to me and then he took it back. I enjoyed my favorite games there while it lasted.

I'm restricted to playing games exclusively on my 3DS nowadays. (Hell, I even bought a 3DS XL since my old 3DS died on me)

Fun Fact: My first console was actually a Sega Saturn.

I play whatever I find fun at the time. Best case scenario is if a game has some kind of way to make it harder for yourself (talking about RPG's). So I can be proud when I beat it. This brings me straight to achievements; I will only go for a certain achievement if it's really an achievement in my eyes.

Take Dark Souls as an example. This is a game I can play for months and still have fun with. I have completed it without leveling up but I've also completed it a bunch of times by just playing how you're "supposed" to play. In the end completing the game with a fully upgraded weapon and armor is just not that fun for me anymore. *kuch* masochist *kuch*

What it comes down to is I like playing games that I can play for multiple playthroughs, unless it has a good online function like Halo. Unfortunately DOA doesn't have that but friends make everything better.

I play most kinds (no survival horror or fps for me though). I don't enjoy realistic killing and gore. I love beat-em-ups like Castle Crashers & Scott Pilgrim. Played through FF13LR w/my bro a while back. DOA5U is a side game, but new characters are keeping my interest.

I don't even have consoles where I live, but need to visit my brother most weekends to play. It has it's pros & cons. Game I'm playing most is Skullgirls. Persona 4 Ultimax is the next game I'm hoping to get, and that will be my main focus.

I don't sleep much. Work, spend time with my girlfriend (she lives with me), and all I'm left with is late nights or weekends. You make time for the things you want to do.

I'm completely worn out on shooters and grand theft auto clones, so I usually pass in those. I still play Borderlands, but that's different because I play characters I don't really shoot with (brick, gauge, krieg).

I have like 15 games sitting in the shelf. Only played a couple of em for more than a couple hours. Nowadays I mostly play quick pick up and plays like DOA. That or I id a single co op play through of other games

Doesn't help that I get bored of gritty games real quick, which is like 90% of western games. Games I've been enjoying when I have the time besides DOA are

Lollipop chainsaw
Sonic unleashed
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD
Monster rancher 2
DMC HD.
Saints row iv
Rayman
Shadow of the colossus.
Onechanbara
Metal gear rising
Pirate warriors

Used to play dbz ams naruto but hasn't been a good dbz game since tenkaichi 3, and naruto got cheap as hell.

With some exceptions I'm pretty much only interested in dynamic games anymore. Even then I usually just play doa because its quicker to pick up and play as a time killer.

Though recently trying the silent hill and fatal frame series starting from scratch.

I find games I want to play, then play them at my own pace. This does lead to awkward breaks between sessions, like a 1-month break halfway through Bayonetta, but I find it keeps me sane during stressful parts.

Well, after work i just play games simple as that.
I'll be honest, I love playing DOA5, but it isn't my main fighting game. (currently focusing on UNIEL and Skullgirls)
but i put time into DOA semi-often.
As for non fighters, i play alot of JRPGs and grind out on my 3DS alot.
Basically i just play whatever i like XD

I usually always gravitate towards RPG's any kind really because i like story telling and going on adventures. When i run out of RPG's to play i fill the time up with filler games like Fighters or beat em ups like one piece pirate warriors.

I work from home mostly when i'm not out doing photography or in the photo studio. So i have a bit more time to game than most. So i finish things quick and get bored very fast. i love games with tons of side missions that means more hours to play and more things to do. JRPG's are my favorite things though.

I'm love fighting games. I do my best to balance my work life and tekken and doa. Cause those are the two fighting games I love to play and play seriously.

It's easier if you're self employed but yeah that's just a part of getting older. For me RPGs are almost entirely out of the question. Online shooters too. I look back at the 300+ hours I spent on MGO and cringe thinking of how much actual productive shit I could've done. As a kid I also beat FF8 like 3 times, which if I had a time machine I'd go back and smack myself.

I play a lot of fighters the majority of the time on any system. Casual or not, I'm usually in the lab, messing around with certain things in games. For example, I recently started messing around with the Dragonball Z Budokai games (specifically Shin Budokai Another Road), mainly to try out canceling. I mostly started learning it through this video:
Since I'm usually messing around in the lab, I don't tend to play many fighters that seriously. DoA5U however started a trend for me. Even though I feel that I got into the series pretty late, it's basically my first main game in a while. So I put time into the game whenever I can, be it online or the lab (hopefully I can start going to tourneys soon, and find other fighters that interest me competitively).

I do tend to dabble into any other kind of genre if the game interests me. In terms of RPGs, I tend to have more fun playing games like Star Ocean 2, Tales of whatever, or Fire Emblem. I also like play a lot of action games like Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, and occasionally some shmups like Mushihimesama Futari among other things. I even play puzzle games like Puyo Pop/Tetris/Puzzle League every once in a while (not that I'm any good at them), and other games like the Phoenix Wright series.
