Interviewing Hayashi tomorrow

Tekken 5 maybe? I don't know for sure, but it was a common thing to have back in the day and it somehow has been forgotten as of late.
Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Vanilla, Mortal Kombat, DOA4, Tekken 5, Street Fighter 4 Vanilla Version and others that escape my mind and still people played those games without whining at the tournaments before their "superior" versions came.

Rock Band. =P
Still can be applied to other games. (I think Soulcalibur IV and V did it for all create a character pieces)

Will we have custom soundtracks for 360 users?
Are we able to see more characters, than just the DOA series?
Will the clan system return?
Will they have thigh/booty jiggle? (lmao)
And will there be minigames?

Please avoid retarded questions about DOAX/bikinis/tits/asses/jiggle physics/other creepy, perverted shit.
I'd rather see relevant and insightful questions be asked.

I want to know if after DOA5 is released and after the DOA community has time to pick it apart, if changes via patch will be seriously considered and implemented based on our feedback.
We all know DOA5 will have an uphill battle to be considered "competitive" within the FGC. Making changes via patch as per our joined recommendations would be incredibly beneficial if there happen to be things within the game that are holding it back that can be altered for the better.
TeamNINJA will have to be ready, and most importantly open, for this kind of situation.

Multiple games with unlockable characters or paid DLC characters have been on tournaments and people have not complained about it so I dont see what the big deal is since it isnt a big work to get them. That does not mean that I do not care about tournaments of the game.

Don't assume things when you don't know me.

Lol a lot of people complain about it.. guess you didnt hear any of it :p

Its a big problem when you run a major.... for a major you need a ton of systems, and it IS a headache to make sure every character is unlocked on every system, and to go through story mode or whatever for EVERY SYSTEM before the tournament starts is a hazzle TOs shouldnt have to go through.

The problem is most evident on release tournaments... unlocking characters in a fighting game is stupid for competition, simple as that.

I completely understand and agree. While I do enjoy unlocking characters, I don't think that any fighting game should ever have locked characters for the reason you stated. It also applies to local, non-tournament play too. For example, if I go over to my buddy's house to play some DOA4 and I main Tengu, but my friend hasn't unlocked Tengu, then I can't use him. Fuck that.

Okay, so I'm up to three questions:

  • The Dead or Alive series has never been taken seriously by the greater fighting game community, what kinds of things are you doing to change DOA's poor reputation?
  • How would you respond to the people who feel that DOA's "defensive hold" is too powerful?
  • What's your level of experience with fighting games and how has that impacted your involvement with the development of DOA5?
I'm sure you have a finite time with him and can only ask a handful of questions but I would appreciate it if you could ask at least one of mine.

I would appreciate it too if you could ask grap3s questions

You could ask them too if they enjoy making awesome games at the start and then gradually fuck them up till release :p.... nah just joking, but not really ^_^

Lol talk about harsh questions... Harsh, but reasonable.
But, apart from question 3 .. we kinda already know the answers to questions 1 and 2 ..

and Hayashi isnt the guy in charge of the direction of the game so question 3 might not actually be that important.

interview concluded! Thank you all for the questions

I will try to give something of a breakdown soon in text and share the video/s (there will be different versions) when complete.

Grape, I believe your questions are addressed to varying degrees (not phrased specifically as above) - I asked about CB, counter hold frames, and touched on the perception of DOA.

There was of course some general stuff and some fun/frivolous questions squeezed into the limited time we had... TK UK were very kind to allow extra time though, it is a solid interview.

What? I think the only one that's harsh is the first one and that's why I tried to come up with some others. It's not exactly wrong either though so I think it's kind of justified too.

Glad to hear it and I'm looking forward to this.
