Hey guys. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that even on hit my strings can be countered. I'm a zack player in case that was important to anybody. I go for combos that seem to work in training mode, but the computer will hold me out of certain moves in the combo. I've had the computer hold me out of 7PP for example, even on hit. With this being said, how do I know what combos to go for? How do I know what is actually guaranteed? Please help.....
LOL, you must be new to our game. If you want to keep playing you'll have to get use to that. When playing against people that's pretty much what you'll be baiting for the majority of the time. Throwing whiff'd holds. I am not big on Zack so I don't know of any guaranteed setups that he may have. Go into the Zack sub-forum and ask about him there, thats in the DOA5 thread. Other than that, holds can be applied whenever and however.
You want to smack people into walls, breakable enviroments, and throw them into a ceiling (that is if your characrter has a throw or hold that does that) to get guaranteed damage from the game.
You can also setup the training dummy to help you. Make it stagger at fast or fastest, then set the critical hold to what ever move you're following up with. If the AI can hold it, that setup is a no-go.
