I don't know if it's the VA or the VA director who's to blame for Leifang's terrible voice clips. Somebody at the studio fucked up to think that "yaa~aah!" cry would not be annoying.
Seriously. I'd put the blame on the both actress and the director though. The actress should have delivered a better performance and the director should have corrected her when she didn't.

As clearly seen here, it works both ways and is why dual language option should be a universal industry standard in interactive entertainment. I definitely understand the subtitle issue (which has been debated since the separate subtitled versions of VHS anime releases of an extra $10 more arrived back in the day) as it creates a "lag" in instant comprehension and is unnatural. It's just that my style is keepin it authentic and everything with it.

I like how some of the characters' voices may seem annoying in English. I think it adds to it.
The only English voice I'm on the fence about is Hitomi's. She sounds great when she's just talking, but both her intro quotes could have been done better.
Leifang's voice just sounds a bit too young for me, but not as bad as y'all say.
But lets talk about Bayman's Japanese system voice and how he sounds goofy.

He is currently Espio in Sonic (the ninja chameleon detective). He's not very over the top and has a personality similar to Hayabusa. Troy Baker is good as both IMO.

I think Mila has the worst hit scream. I never use her (or Leifang) because of it. She sounds so dumb.

To be honest, I really dislike the English voices. Some of them are ok. To be honest, all the male voices are fine to me. 90% of the females however, it just sounds wrong. Helena is one of them =S that fake French accent aggravates me... I honestly prefer DOA2's voice acting to DOA5's =\
"How dare you swindler!" I still laugh at the poor dialogue in 2... but to me, the voices were better than DOA5's.
On a side note, Tina's VA in DOA5 is actually good! I kinda forgot about her, she's probably the only female voice that doesn't bug me- and to me is spot on.
