“Simply porting the game to the current generation of hardware means nothing to us or our fans,” he explains.

“So, we enhanced the graphics accordingly – exploiting the upgraded hardware specs

I have my doubts about this. If that's the case I expect a last gen game ported to current gen to have very little jaggies. We will see when the game is out.

TN is funny though... They said multiple times, that they don't like, when their 3D models are taken from the game and are tampered with. But then they share graphics made with these models quite often on Twitter or Facebook. Like for example right now on Deadoralivegame's Facebook page. XD

If you're referring to this tab of the Photos section of the Facebook page, that's all stuff posted by fans, not by TN themselves.

I have the sneaking suspicion someone will ruin it for everyone. That is usually how the cookie crumbles.

This is what will happen.

1) Nude mods.
2) Hardcore porn using said nude mods.
3) Cosplay mods.
4) Real mods.

Bit late on the first three. The XNALara scene have been dragging their noses through the gutter with DoA5/5U content for months.

I'll be looking into the pipeline for this game, because the first thing I'd like to exploit is to change sounds and music files and replace them with actual tolerable music tracks.

Next, maybe looking into possibility of messing with meshes.

So the guy respectfully and politely asks you not to dick with their game, and the first thing you do is throw him the finger?

Is there a way of blocking these people from buying it in the first place, lol? o_0

@Gultigargar does the prospect of modifying this game interest you?
Costumes, kinda, I guess. I'm not really digging DOA5's whole low saturation-look, though that might be more of a lighting thing rather than texture. Part of me also really wants to give every character mustaches.

If people find out how to make engine changes or mod attack properties like we can with DOA2U and DOA3 then definitely yes.

No, the idea of a competitive PC scene interests me. The idea of playing in 4K with everything at max interests me. The idea of having somewhere to play that isn't locked into either Microsoft or Sony's paywalls interests me.

The idea of Tecmo pulling the series after we've finally convinced them to risk it's release on the PC platform, does not. Show some fucking respect.

I wonder if having the VF characters make them a little more nervous about this too. Still, they should expect this and as others have pointed out, it happens already with the consoles. I'm okay with whatever mods (I'm sure I'll be a patron to some of them, you guys know me), but hopefully it doesn't become a big issue that ruins it for everyone.

It looks that way mostly thanks to the lighting engine, making things way too bright to mask jaggies and trying to make sharp shadowmaps.

The latter part depends on a couple things, but I'll look into it myself just to see if it's feasible or not.

I think Hayashi and Shimbori are trying to stop the inevitable. People try and exploit every game, that's not gonna change. And for them to say that they won't be able to release another PC game again because of immoral exploitation is just hogwash. Try and be realistic here, there are those who want to ruin everything for everyone else and there are fans who really enjoy the game and support it all the way, to punish the good party because of the bad is not fair.

“Frankly speaking, being the first fighting game on shelves is good. We hope that people who have never played the game pick it up and give it a try.”

Hayashi's absolutely right this was the best opportunity that they could have taken right now to really get DOA's name out there.
