Thanks for posting this faceless. I look forward to sitting down and dissecting the trailer once I get home.

From initial impressions it's very kin to DOA4, but the animation looks awkward - almost Tekken like, with Tekken hit sparks. yet I notice no difference in the stepping, string, or counter system off the bat.

Alright, going through the trailer frame by frame.

Video starts out with Hayabusa on a tree top - eerily similar to the DOA4 trailer

Ayane opens with :2:3:6:k / While Running :kand blocked by Raidou
Raidou follows with :k but Ayane recovers faster with :1:1 and it apparently ducks highs?
Raidou continues his string with another :k which Ayane continues to duck
Raidou recovers and Ayane does :P:p:P:k (which doesn't guard break) :k - I forget if it guard broke before, maybe in DOA4's trailer
Ayane attempts :3:p but is counter hit with by Raidou with what looks like Leon's :P:+:k which puts her into a fall forward stun
Raidou continues stun with a hell stab like move similar to Bass (:P:+:k)- it doesn't look like string though - the hit apparently puts Ayane into the typical counter hit hell stab stun
Raidou continues stun with a forward elbow similar to Akira from VF, putting Ayane into a stomach stun (not crumple)
Raidou goes straight into a throw while either Ayane is still in stun, or just comes out of stun. I don't see a recover stun animation though - so it might be a hit-throw. The throw is similar to Kasumi's :3:3:F:+:p

Posting so far as I go through Kasumi's kata scene - which I wouldn't be surprised is the same animations from DOA2 opening.

Okay, back to the fighting:

Hayate's :2:1:4:p:p is blocked by Raidou.
Hayate free cancels into some move - can't tell (possibly :3:p) - but is interrupted by Raidou's hell stab. Which I assume hits high, but Hayate is damn near crouching - making me think Hayate's attack isn't a high crush.
Hayate gets put in the face stun that Hayate's :9:p does.
Raidou continues stun with a lift stun - move looks like a :3:3:p motion, but could just be a :3:p as most double direction crouch attacks are launchers on stun/ch
Raidou does Hayate's DOA4 :6:p:p which knocks down/back
Hayate immediately techs up and away (without wake-up kick?!) from Raidou without going into a wake-up game
Raidou performs a huge/fast freestep while Hayate gets up

Hayate performs his DOA3 :6:6b:P:2:k (stance switches - which says the :6:6b, not :6:6), the elbow is blocked and the kick connects causing a trip stun. The string was not a 2 in 1 as Raidou recovered from blocking - he could have blocked the trip.
Ayane tags in (Tag system? 2 on 1?)
Ayane continues stun from trip stun with :6:k:2:k. In DOA2 and DOA3 this would have caused a knock down to Raidou, I forget what it does in DOA4.
Again! Ayane grabs Raidou without Raidou appearing to be recovered from stun yet. She performs a tag throw to Hayate.

Cut back to Kasumi apparently not wanting to defend her brother from her damn uncle.

Okay, Hayate and Raidou are spaced apart again - freestepping each other.
Hayate goes for a throw but is hi-counter blown by Raidou's previous :3:3:p or :3:p - which now(!?) launches.
Hayate is juggled off a low height with what looks like a :4:p:6:p string by Raidou. Don't know if this is all one string (:3:3:P:4:P:6:p) - I don't think it's a full string but :4:p:6:p is definitely a string.
Hayate again immediately techs away from Raidou - without wake-up kick.
Hayate performs his DOA4 :7:p wave dash starter - dodging Raidou's Bass like power gong (:1:p)
Hayate continues the wave dash into his :p elbow which stomach stuns Raidou.
Hayate continues stun with his DOA4 :P:p:p - causing the same stun extensions from DOA4
Hayate tries going for his :9:p but is defensive held by Raidou - out of Raidou's stun. The DH performs just as Gen Fu's High Punch Defensive Hold.
Hayate techs back up without wake-up kick
Both Raidou and Hayate freestep into the same direction
Hayate performs his :2:3:6:k, but is defensive held by Raidou - which is a hold resistant attack and puts Raidou to Hayate's right - note: not straight behind him.
Raidou punishes Hayate's attack with a Kasumi :8:k like attack - putting Hayate into a lift stun
Raidou extends the stun with Gen Fu's :3:k, causing Hayate to be put into a stomach stun.
Raidou string attacks from the :3:k to an uppercut launching Punch
Raidou juggles with Gen Fu's :6:p:+:k, causing knockback to Hayate who tech rolls into cinematic of Raidou performing an energy blast similar to Hayate's energy blast in DOA3's trailer. Could be the Torn Sky Blast from DOA2U's opening.
Hayate and Ayane are knocked down the slope into a new zone of the arena.

End official Trailer

Starting Nintendo compilation trailer

Open with Kasumi shocked (SHOCKED!?)

Taken to DOATEC Germany - DOA2U stage:
Hayate is in mid combo of juggling Ryu Hayabusa
Hayate juggles with :P:p:p performing same juggle state as DOA4
Hayate ends juggle with :9:k like DOA4, knocking Ryu Hayabusa into the danger zone
cut to Ryu Hayabusa in mid combo of juggling Hayate on the Tengu/Raidou stage
Ryu appears to be juggling with :P:p:K:k:k - the first :p is not shown, causing knockback into a half-wall.

-Serious, what ever happened to "Three Kick Man"? What was his real name?-

Cut to Kasumi facing Ayane on Kyoto in Bloom
Kasumi crouch dashes to a backturned Ayane
Ayane is performing a backturned :k, but is parried by Kasumi
Kasumi parries Ayane's :k and goes into her parry~throw from DOA4

Cut to Ryu Hayabusa in mid Izuna drop against Hayate
Ryu Hayabusa finishes the Izuna drop

Just seems to be doa4 with Raidou. This is an easy way out of doing some extensive research for the series. Way to go Re-hayshi.

I concur. He doesn't seem to be doing anything new.

I am curious about this whole Throwing while stunned issue.

It could just be a hit throw. Tina's Doa3 :3:3: :~ :F:+:p was a hit throw that threw a stunned opponent. If this is not the case, I guess they are making being in stun much more deadly.

I will say the most I'm curious about is:

Throwing while in stun?
Hold resistant attacks put players to the side instead of behind the holdee?

I have copyrighted calling the new lead of Team Ninja Re-Hashi, but you all have permission to use it.

Particularly keen point based on the derivations we are seeing in the gameplay of the 3DS DOA Dimensions.

That said, as I put on Doacentral, this is on of those platforms where reiterating existing mechanics makes sense, as its already in a different enough environment for this type of game, and it serves simply of a reminder about the franchise.

At least DOA is not forgotten.

shots fired!

This game is a waste of space and no one wanted this. At least with Doa2U, it was Team ninja's excuse to work on online play, and have all the Doa games on one console. There is no excuse for Hayashi to give us. I know he is feeling the heat, cause this project was a failure from the start, and all of TN fans are telling him this. So far he is still in Itagaki's shadow and have done nothing to set himself apart...except for being a lack luster innovator/leader.
