New DOA5 Backdash

Currently it's too soon to know if this tech will help or hinder the competitive level of the game. If it turns out this tech is so strong that it becomes a necessity to pick a Rapid Step character you will end up w/ a game like Mahvel 2, where you will only see a handful of characters in competitive play. IMO this would be a death knell for DOA5, as I don't believe it has enough hype/crazyness/tech to be boiled down to 4 or 5 characters and survive. If it turns out Rapid Step isn't as crazy as it looks in the hitbox video and ends up being just more tech for the game I'm all for it.

Remember that most all of the cast can still rapid step forward to pursue. Just don't throw out strings and walk into your opponent's trap. Off the top of my head only a few can't RSF, and they all have the Mishima-style WD as an alternate. You can break your pursuit any time with the hold button, so it's still a fast game of reaction. I'll be sure to try and contrast rapid step with other dash cancel tactics out there, and get some sort of metric of Pai's rapid back dash vs. Bass' wave dash in the next video.

I think the game will look brilliant in competitive play if it's a cat and mouse game of chicken; a Mexican standoff while sprinting backwards lol. I think this kind of tech only enriches the game that there is more variety in characters' movement options. That's me though, and I dig mashing them buttons. We'll see as the game plays out.

Let the game grow. Seeing stuff like this makes me happy. All characters need not be the same.

Gonna bump this. I saw some Sarah doing it at D.I.D. ;) Looked legit. Do you think this can be used to fuzzy out of some of these new tech traps? Hmm...

Shhhhh, don't tell them.

You can back dash out of Bass's pick up and Helena's pseudo as far as I know. I haven't had a chance to try the others.

Edit: Can't get away from Helena's sweep or 66k from her pseudo. Low sweep at tip range doesn't do anything though.
