It also depends on how good your opponent is because shit always seems easy until you play against someone who knows what there doing. I feel this game has a lot of depth and a you have to do is clear tutorial mode to get an idea of what I mean.

The AI is definitely easier. Try fighting Akira at level 8 in 5 then try it in 5U. Level 8 in 5 meant hardcore turtling with CONSTANT holds and throws and strikes right whenever he can punish with follow up hard-hitting juggles. In 5U the punishment is still there with hard-hitting juggles and he turtles a lot but often leaves himself open small windows for you to smack around. Not to mention he barely ever holds. You can still chain endless throw punishes on him when he tries that slow punch when he's mid range. Hell, I even 2P'd him with Momiji about 20+ times in a row before he crouched to guard them. The only positive change he has is that he seems to use mid punches a tiny bit less.

(I know all this from using mostly just him as my training dummy and setting the AI to fight back to try stuff out)

I love how you act as if me knowing combos will help me get up when I'm being kicked on the ground over and over. Combo challenge more is in no way relevant here.

First off, when you get knocked down, to get up quickly press the left directional (if you are on the player 1 side, right directional if you are on player 2 side) and the block/hold button, as if you were doing a mid-punch counter.

I already do that, and I just get combod while getting up. Hoping my timing is just off.

hold the guard button or hold if they are going low. also tech back your foe can't follow up since you're out of their range in less you're on a wall.

You're invisible to attacks for about 10-12 frames when getting up from a FT or a Tech Roll so I don't see why you are getting hit. And NEVER try to fight back so soon after. You will get countered or launched. Try to guard and then attack when you see the chance. Use their fastest attacks (i.e. i10-i11 Jabs and :6::P:s) and even sidestep their attack as they won't usually use a tracking attack to get you. Sidestepping has now become one of the most useful tool in DOA5U.
