Question about hit-boxes

i would like to know how they work, specifically when it comes down to the attacking extremidies. On numurous occasions i feel like i throw a kick, they throw a punch, and they punch me in my foot, effectively 1 shotting me [not really but...] i was wondering if there is any rhyme or reason, or is there a time in the active frames that the attacks will be based on which one was first/last/stronger/just more damn priority. Any insight is appreciated

You can hit anyone out of nearly anything (i've punched Ayane and Brad out of their torpedo moves.), its just a matter of timing it.

By rule of thumb, speed rules the day. When two attacks collide at the same exact frame, they will trade unless one attack does 3 or more points of damage over the other attack.

There are and always have been a few moves with some rather sketchy properties, though. DOA 3 was notorious for this, with such things as Hayate's "unbeatable elbow". In DOA 5 Bayman's uppercut also has a way of saying "Fuck you" to basically everything from range with proper timing, and Leifangs 1P+K gives her jedi powers that don't give a damn where you are or what you are trying to do to stop it.

I'm not even gonna start on Eliot's 66P...

Seriously...fuck that move and it's beyond sketchy evasive properties.

Basically, if a character is doing a move that is supposed to avoid high attacks and mid attacks ( mid at certain points), it will god damn well avoid that high or mid attack no matter how much it clearly connects with the character.
