Apologies for the double posting, since we're getting Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui in SF6, I'm curious on what are their move sets will be because they will not be carbon copies of their Capcom Vs. SNK's moves. Obviously, I'm thinking Terry would be similar to his move set when he guest-starred in Fighting EX Layer. Or it can be similar to his upcoming moves from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, if Nakayama and Matsumoto currently talking and taking notes from the SNK team.

Mai will be the tricky one because she's like Chun-Li over the years: her move set changes drastically in almost every game she appeared on, when it comes down to her specials and supers. I know Chou Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi will be one of her supers but what about the others: Kagero No Mai (which sometimes switches to either a special or a super), Mizudori No Mai, Hou'ou No Mai, Hana Arashi, Gekka Midare Botan... And then we have her Neo Maxes/Super Desperations... which one would Capcom likely will use for her. Or, we may get brand new exclusive Critical Arts for both characters.
Mai doesn't change drastically at every game. She always has her 4 basic moves: Kachou Sen (fan projectile), Ryuu en Bu (fire twist) , Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi (elbow launch) and Musasabi no Mai (air launch). So expect these 4 at least. I would love to see more moves like Kagero no Mai or Hakuro no Mai, but I'm not sure we can expect that. Her DM can vary, that's true, but for certain she will have her Chou Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi. What reamins to be seen is how much they will be close to FF City of Wolvs encarnations, since this crossover is happening because the new FF will be released at early 2025 (same time as Mai in SF6). I guess it would make sense they use moves they have in City of Wolves (assuming that Mai is in it), like Mai had her super and her dress from KOFXIV in DOA6. And talking about dresses, I'm really curious about her outfit design in the trailer. Is this her new FF outfit, or is just a design SF6 did for her?

It's an updated version of her Real Bout Fatal Fury Special/2 outfit, mixed with the pattern from her current KOF outfit. Note that she doesn't wear her tabi socks.

Yowie wowie. With no DOA announcement yet what else can I do but go back to Terry in SFVI and City of the Wolves? Great time to be a fan of the franchise.

I'll pass. I'll wait for a Virtua Fighter announcement.

There's till 4 days left at Gamescom... plenty of time for a miracle.

not gonna sugarcoat it tbh, DOA6 Mai looks way better than this. Mai here looks like Soul Calibur 6 Cac
That's EXACTLY what's i was saying on X XD:

dont get me wrong, she looks acceptable but they definitely played it too safe. First, they used her fatal fury hairstyle design which is OK but idk, it looks aged and obsolete as a hairstyle now, they should have kept the current center part look they have now like doa did. The face is... acceptable, but again they played it safe sticking with her old design and didn't actually go out their comfort zone like DOA5 and 6 did, her face model isn't bad but it looks pretty tame compared to what her XV and Cotw looks could have translated to, but I think they did her that way on purpose so she'd look more realistic like the other characters in SF6.

Overall she's a decent design in SF6, but they should have went with her current era look, but I won't knock them too much because who knows? They may have her current look as alternate costumes like Terry, so I can see them giving her Cotw new look as a second costume. I'm still super excited tho, I'll be installing the game again then since I haven't installed it since Ed was dropped

I don’t think Mai has ever really been throbbing with details, but I like this version of her quite a bit. DOA didn’t do a very good job of capturing her muscle definition, but here it seems present.

At the very least this is second place to DOA5/DOA6 Mai.

Is Mai muscular in her native games tho? I don't mind the muscle definition tho since I think every character in SF has some degree of that. I think overall tho while not topping DOA Mai, her look in SF6 is arguably very nostalgic which I think they wanted, it's almost like the old Capcom vs SNK games with how she's been revamped.

I'm sure someone will replace her model with the doa5 or 6 one tho xD

Yeah. Mai has always had a pair of guns, and thick non muscular legs. That’s the only thing DOA is missing though.

DOA7 needs a variety of body types. Rachel has always been more curvaceous and Tina has been displayed with abs in the past. I also think Hitomi and Christie should have a layer of muscularity.

Mai was pretty muscular in Real Bout. And her outfit was very similar to her SF6 design. So, I guess it makes sense.
Her face is not great. In DOA she looked much more better, specially in DOA5LR. Can't wait to see her SF6 gameplay trailer though

I agree. I think it’s the tone for me.
Not sure how I feel about the voice tho, in English in the 2025 era, I felt like Mai should sound like how a Shura from SC4 or how a poison ivy from Injustice 2 would sound, which is having a more plucky yet femme fatale direction. Her VA is good but idk, it seems like she leans more towards making Mai have a far more reserved direction compared to being out there like I'd expect, like her lines lack that lace of sultry and enticing. But maybe it'll grow on me

The sass! Her COTW outfit! Yes, Mai is my new main! And I figured Enryuujin will be remixed, though I was hoping for Mai Mai Kyuun being remixed once more by Capcom.

And I saw some shout-outs, the original Kagerou No Mai with the two clones, the Chou Hissashu Shinobi Bachi upper-diagonal version from the Real Bout series, and even some KOF specials.

Just wish they kept the original heel boots from COTW tbh, I don't like the nerf to the heels but maybe it's a design choice since now that I think of it, none of the girls in SF6 seem to wear them xD

And her look grew on me too, it's not as up to par as her DOA6 face but her face is beautiful nonetheless, and i like her hair and model in-game. I hope they'll also finally ditch the world tour mode customization focus and give us more costumes for the roster this year, it's been two year I think now and we only got the 1 dlc pack that gives everyone one look and it's unnerving that's all we got. SFV had players on deck with costumes and tekken 8 is out doing them too.

I was talking about the tone of her upper body. The look they went for seems authentic to the character.

Still prefer DOA overall, but to me SF has been the best competitor.
