Hi all, how y'all doing?

Just wanted to talk to you and share a few interesting thoughts that crossed my mind. I think especially online, the average player is not just "some scrub."

I feel like the average player on here are all pretty good; it's not a spamming scrubfest like back in Vanilla SF4 days, if anyone was around to witness those days.

What do you think? I dont see much spamming scrubs online. I DO however, see lots of punks who taunt after every round though. What's up with that?

I completely agree with you, in SCV or other games you will find players that are really bad, but in DOA 5 you rarely see them.

DOA is an extremely difficult fighter to play... for me anyway. I wasn't born with natural skill like 99% of the other players here.

As a beginner, I spent 2 whole weeks trying to figure out how to kick, punch, and block, and nearly a whole month learning how to use the gas and the brakes. I dread what Lesson 3 will be like. Using holds correctly? Punishing attacks and whiffed holds? Fuzzy guarding? Slow escaping? Whatever lies ahead, it'll be an ordeal.

At any rate, the best advice I can give you about avoiding those "punks" who taunt you is not to get too caught up playing in public rooms. It also helps if you build a reputation of being a nice guy. You'd be surprised how far word of mouth travels about that. Of course, some people simply can't help themselves or their ego. That's the time to weed them out and move on.

I still firmly believe its due to the counter system acting as a filter. The terrible players get decimated by attacking mindlessly, or trying the standard stuff that works in other fighters, and just get countered for it.

As for taunting...I do it, not to taunt, but because its hot to see Mila spank herself lol. I don't do her other taunt that is actually TAUNTING, though. THe "alright, lets go!" one.

I agree with this post. The players on DoA5 online aren't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Even if the netcode isn't up to par with modern standards, be thankful it's actually playable unlike Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus's online. Yet another case of great game with bad netcode D: But yeah, I don't see how spamming is possible on here. Opponent countering mid punches over and over? MIX DAT CRUD UP! Unfortunately my playstyle with Akira is mostly muscle memory from my months of VF5FS training, so the concept is still hard for me to grasp 9_6

There are so many levels of skill... but the truly bad bad players are a rare sight. I think many (like over 50%) of the playerbase are also DOA4 veterans.

I think I haven't met enough "average players" yet.
I only found scrubs and Mila/Alpha spammers even with C+ and B+ rank.

I'm not sure I understand this. Are you saying the average player in DOA5 is good at the game? If this is true I have to say that is false. From my experience(playing on both 360 and PS3). Majority of players suck at this game. Thanks to the useless rank system, and netcode you have A/S players that suck and is only high rank because of the horribly did rank system and abusive netcode. Infact considering I'm sure majority of the players haven't even played offline(especially competitively) I doubt they even know how to play the game properly.

With a online that allow almost everything to appear safe and not allow you to punish properly I stopped getting mad at how bad online is because people just simply should not take it serious at all.

Because it can get boring doing the same thing over and over?

Not to mention its no fun to wail on someone who can't/doesn't know how to do anything about it...
It isn't boring, it's actually pretty damn entertaining to see the person fall for the same trick. If someone is getting hit with the same move, I'm going to keep hitting him with that move. I'm pretty sure that eventually they will find a way to get around it.

...or they simply can't do anything about it due to the net code. You know, like pretty much every Helena, Leifang and Gen Fu player online.

"I'm at -5? No problem, that's like +6 online, I'll just keep attacking."

It's the opposite, really. Saying the word spam is scrubby. :p

Also, you saw it so much against Hitomi because it shuts down most of her High/Low mix ups, and I knew Worm was going to react with 1p. If he had stopped you would have been seeing tackles, 6T, 66k, or 66p.

Do people understand how stupid they sound when they complain about the online experience? It's like a bunch of hipsters making an arguement that vinyl and cassette tapes are better than digital media while listening to their iPods.
