Most of you have likely noticed that we now have a chat feature on the site. If you haven't noticed, you are likely on a phone or tablet and not using a desktop UA string...anyway, it's that little bar at the bottom. Few things I wanted to point out to encourage people to use it a bit more:
1) Going from left to right, the icons are: Translation for the chat, Change Theme (no other themes are currently loaded), Page Translation, Sharing features, Announcements, the Chatroom list, the Private Chat member list, Settings (Status and sound controls), and Hide.
2) You CAN idle in the chatroom. If you navigate pages on the forums, the normal chatroom will close and often log you out of the room, which will cause you to lose the chat history beyond the last couple of minutes. If you instead pop out the chat via the tab near the name of the chat and under the red bar, it will open into another tab or window depending on your browser. Once that's popped out, you can move around the pages or even navigate away from FSD entirely and you will stay in the chat. Handy feature.
3) In the chatrooms you can send files to and from each other, work on collaborative documents (literally a live document everyone invited to edit can add to and otherwise edit in realtime), and perhaps most importantly use smileys. One of the very first things we did with the live documents was write out the entirety of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. It was fucking magical.
Anyway, there's more to it, but those are the basics everyone should know to get started. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, but otherwise I'll see you around the site.
