Guess my gif didn't make a difference XD.

There are means to make a character model look attractive without having the need to strip them down in strings & straps.

TN has flawlessly done it for the most part (model-wise) but they just couldn't let go of the habit due to the "cultural sensibilities" excuse.
Uh uhhh TN don't think so!

Kasumi: Do you like this turquoise outfit TN?
TN: NO wth get changed! Its not attractive enough! Where's the strings and straps?! *sparkle attack on Kasumi*. Much better!
Kasumi: Oh my!

So because they have different tastes and values then you means that its okay for people to rage and make us look bad as a whole?
Nope. Didn't say that. If you feel you are being misrepresented, then speak up. That Viktor dude doesn't speak for me. I speak for me. I'm not about to accuse TN of rigging any contests or attacks anybody in that contest. Only of TN hitting the gas too hard of fanservice sometimes. But, that's not exactly a capital offense on their part. I would hope that TN would have the depth of thought not to let some random individuals speak for the fanbase across multiple countries, though.
Is it okay to force your opinions and tastes onto other people?
Nope. Who's doing that?

However, if people are calling you out enough, then you may want to take a step back and try to get an objective look at what you're doing compared to others in the market. Not just retreat into "this is just how we do things here". That doesn't even address the complaints on an intellectual basis. And that doesn't even work because the majority of their direct competitors are also Japanese. Hell, they want to make the game Japan only with their "Japanese sensibilities"? That's their prerogative. I wouldn't advise it, though.

With that being said, they can also take the "F THE HATERS" route. Travel that road for as long as they can...

I wouldn't be so sure of that. They may not focus on it with so little fucks given but how many fugl...I mean normal looking girls are in fighting games that people care about, besides Leo?(she was created to preemptively subvert rage IMHO)
You seem to be equating "not fugly/attractive" with
DdRZj.gif
like Hayashi seems to be doing (another reason why his explanation was weak is that people aren't complaining that the characters are just "attractive"). To answer your question, I'd have to ask what you'd consider to be "normal" and if those characters are even in large supply to begin with.

And here we go...SJW mode is in full force.
Bruh, you don't wanna go down this road...

I'm just not going to deeper into how I feel. I am bound to annoy/piss people off. Lets agree to disagree.

I do believe that people from the west are salty because now the votes are legitimate this time.

Can you stop stressing that all the time? Honestly, how would we even know? The voting system was just as hacking-prone as the Facebook vote. One could technically vote as much as one wanted, just the IP adress had to be changed. And that's actually a piece of cake for many. (But that would of course only happen in the West, not Japan.) At least on Facebook everyone could see what was going on. Everyone could trace back votes. Designs, that amass illegitimate votes, are clearly visible as such.
I find it very naive (and unfair to the 1. contest's winners), to claim, this contest was oh so fair and legit, just because we had no chance to see, what was actually going on behind the scenes. Along the lines of: What the eye does not see,the heart does not grieve over.

Sorry to be a pain, but can some one paste this into a post please, for those of us without FB. Even with spoiler tags would be great!

Someone posted his personal favorite designs of the contest...

...and commented:
Deception,dishonesty,disappointment=Team Ninja

Which is of course a very unfair thing to say! :/ It wasn't Team Ninja's vote...

Team Ninja, clearly disappointed, answered:
What do you want to say to us? We put our all effort and guts to do this 2nd competition. We prepared official site for the place of voting because many western fans and eastern fans said it's not the place for voting. And now many western fans started saying tjey don't like the costumes selected, even worse, they are saying we (Tam NINJA) are crazy about those costumes. What about 1st time? 100% of costumes were selected from our fans in the west. Official site opens up the reach to more fans (world wide) for their vote and those 10 costumes were selected. Do you guys have any respects to authors of those? We provided fun place and a moth project for our community. But I am very disappointed by the response from our fans in the west to be honest.

I actually had that game for a short time on the SNES before I lent it to my cousin and it went "missing". I feel stupid to this day. Back in the 90s I was bored to tears with RPGs I was more into MK, run and gun and platform games.

This would imply that Eastern fans have never said anything stupid or embarrassing in a fit of rage. Nerd rage knows no nationality. lol

I also don't know how you would speak for "Eastern fans'" perception when few people (west or east) probably even see whatever people post on the DOA facebook page to begin with (one of the reason the contest was moved). People will get over it and forget it happened. And if TN decides to be disappointed with "Western" fans generally when it was "Western" fans coming to TN's defense in that very thread, then... Welp, I can't help them.

That's the funny thing, I'm not speaking for the Eastern fans, I'm just pointing out exactly what we did and how that negatively affected us as a whole.
I remember hearing about something from Hideki Kamiya's Twitter account as someone asked him if the Japanese fans are just as bad as Western fans in irritating the fuck out of him. His response was pretty much "They are more polite about their issues". That is what I'm talking about.

I'm not saying there aren't unruly Japanese fans, that would be completely stupid, what I am saying though is the fact that we made ourselves into bigger assholes then what any number of those unruly fans can even try to be, if they was even remotely as bad as we was in voicing out displeasure to begin with. There are ways to show disappointment, raging about how whose at fault, whining and complaining when TN tried to stop the past shenanigans from happening and must have been cheating. We don't get a Cookie or anything for out efforts, we get this instead:
