i got this game, but i'm so torn.

I want to play with other people, but in 2d fighters, it's usually just people spamming jab into super, and that's boring as hell to play against, I cant watch the videos, but is it the same in this game?

I bought it during the Christmas sales too, and I got exactly the same impression.

What you got in this game is sadly enough initial hit followed by difficult combos. It is in reality much more you vs the computer than vs the opponent. The input commands are also very strict, as they have a clear heritage from arcades where attempting to play this game with a controller will take you months of practice to do the basic moves. 6236 and 623 do not count as the same command just as an example.

I must admit I felt it was rather sad as the game overall looks great, and I really liked some of the characters. But the controllers are just not something you'd want to try master unless you mastered it in the arcades years ago and got a stick for it. I'd worry about the future of the game as longevity through dumb input demands got old a long time ago. Then again, there might be a niche for it, so who knows.

You have it backwards: the game is so lenient, it gets in the way of people who don't need such a generous buffer. The example you cited is actually the game reading that last 6 in preparation for additional inputs, which is kind of useful actually for HD combos and such, so long as you understand how the game reads inputs.

Personally, I have issues with doing Andy's cross-under. You do a Kuuhadan break, run under and st.C/D, then cancel in to Zaneiken (16P) to cross under. Only problem is because you're doing it as a cancel, the game will read that exact input as a DP, so you actually have to change the input to something like HCF to get what you want.

Re: that OS, it seems kinda iffy. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I see in that last video it's losing to safejumps anyways? Why bother OS'ing an unsafe DP if still loses to a safejump? It might be useful for EX Kyo since his weak DP actually beats safejumps, but besides that, I'm at a loss as to how this is supposed to be useful.
