Game will release August 26th in EU, published by Deep Silver.

Also, Team Yagami trailer:

@Argentus will rejoice. Women with short hair and pants...though that "PS2 graphics". ;)
Already squeed over
But yes the models still look two generations behind the times lol. Dat Goro gif looks either standard PS2 or cheap Disney movie tie in game quality.

Finally Mature shows up! I miss her eyepatch, but still she totally rocks.
It will be really hard to pick up a team this time. I'll keep my classic Mai, King and Mature team, but I want to try Luong and Mian too.

Too bad european version has that awful steel box too. I prefer japanese cover :(

In reply to the Mature reveal I kinda wish her and Vice had different outfits. It would have been cool of Vice stuck with the business suit she has now cuz she's supposed to be like strong(??? Idk the word to describe it right now) and Vice could of had that long dress shirt suit thing from before this would have been a nice distinction with their jump to 3d models.

I've seen a shy anime girl tried to hide their pretty face before.

However, it's kinda a weird when Mian performs her Climax Art on removing her mask, she becomes so self-confidence.

The profile says Despite her high-skilled, Mian is extremely shy and always never drop her mask off. But in her Climax Art somehow becomes an exception.

If one of you still don't get it, you all may reminded her Murakumo from Senran Kagura, since Mian has some shy parts having her mask removed (except while performing Climax Art) as Murakumo

So, how exactly does KOF work? I'm thinking of picking up KOFXIV (this would be my first KOF ever) as I'm looking for new FGs to play to fill the void of waiting for Tekken 7 (plus doa is getting a little stale right now).

This is not a good answer. And, I am going to explain why in my reply for @UpSideDownGRUNT

KOF is a face paced 2D fighting game. In KOF94 and 95, there were several unique mechanics introduced such as the 3 on 3 systems, the use of hops, a charging mechanic for Desperation Moves (Supers) like in AOF, and a dodge mechanic.

It did not start to proper refine and identy itself until KOF96, however. That was the point where we got the roll system was well. KOF97 then chaged hpw the meter system works and it would be refined even more so inKOF98, which is essentially the gold standard of KOF to this very day. Based on the standards of KOF98 (along with KOF02/02UM), KOF is generally regarded as a face paced fighting game. Footsies is heavily encouraged in 98 because of its quickness and how good a lot of the normals were. Having a projectile and a command grab was also generally ideal. EVERY character in KOF is capable of some form of rush down. As for the combo system? This is not as combo centric as @Argentus wants to believe. The combo systems makes use of chains from light normals into each other. Most characters could also chains lights into their command moves though they may not combo. It is also possible to chains CLOSE heavy normals into command moves. Most of the said command moves will end up canceling into special moves. Again, KOF is a game that advocates good mobility, a well-structured rush down game, moderate use of short-term ground game for starting an offense or defending yourself and a relatively easy to understand combo system.

EDIT:
Found some links. So instead of listening to uneducated opinions from non-KOF players, a good place to start would be in the following links below.

Here are some FAQS I set up a long while ago in relation to XIII, most of which can apply to XIV.

I didn't give a bad/wrong answer, just a simple one. You chose to elaborate is all. Most of what you stated is a given for anyone even remotely familiar with 2d fighters.

I admit I should have mentioned it is 3 on 3 teams though. But not TAG teams. You fight with one till they drop and then the next, you just choose the order.

I want Mai to still use chains in DOA. Stay true to where she came from, I guess.

Saying this tho, I still want her to have strings and such as well as her normals.

Interesting, I'll definitely mull it over and have a read especially since xiv is pretty close now I think it's out on the 26th next month? This and Xenoverse 2 should definitely provide an interesting month.

Is there any other karate or spacing characters? So far I'm tempted to try out Yuri as she seems to be similar to Hitomi, Sakura and Asuka Kazama (3 fave female fighters) as if they wererolled into one character.

Yuri is about as close to Hitomi as you may get. In XIV, I suggest you also look into Robert or Ryo for example. Most characters are capable of spacing themselves with the use if normals but to varying degrees. That's part of the reason why KOFXIV is made to be similar to Kof98 in that aspect.

Upon inspecting each character from KOF, Geese would fit really well in DOA. Some of his counters can be converted to natural holds. Too bad he's not as popular as Mai.
