One thing we should avoid is making a recommendation "as a community" to endorse one over the other or worse put a system in any "official" ruleset. I think 8wayrun made a mistake doing that.
Let the event determine it and if it's Byo stick, be prepared.

This.

Regardless of preference everyone should just be prepared to play on both as you are likely going to run into both from tournament to tournament.

No, that's not it. The framerate is unstable, even on the character select screen. Additionally there are dropped frames during gameplay that can cause lost inputs. The latter issue happens on 360 too, but less frequently. Makes the game actually feel different on PS3.

You crazy kids! Back in my day we played on these giant wooden cabinets, and the games themselves had frame skipping set into the game's code. You even had to pay one quarter (if you were lucky) to play the game, and it could end in less than one minute if your opponent was better than you. I hear tale of some still being played like Super Turbo where the default tournament setting is Turbo 3 out of 4 options no less. Dropped inputs abound!

Speaking of wooden cabinets, we beat the shit out of a Killer Instinct 2 cab the other day...after taking out the good parts first.

We needed to make space for the Versus City ones anyway.

i think these issues are really in everyone's head. I play both versions of games sometime. I can all my combos, setups, and etc. I really think you guys are really being picky for no reasons. Must need to make up reasons why you lost.

I don't know if that one frame of lag really exists or not, but they were using PS3's for AE2012 at EVO and I didn't hear any complaint there.

You should have heard Cole when he was bitching about SFxT on PS3. It was...colorful. Can't comment on AE2012 but SFxT actually feels different.

I don't know either. I only played SFxT for about 2 weeks, and I only played it on PS3, but I never dropped any combos from anything that wasn't my fault that I know of. Like I said, I don't know if it exists personally, but all I own nowadays is a PS3 and I don't have any complaints. I can hit Sakura 1 frame links consistently enough.

SFxT has slowdown on the character select screen on PS3 lol. I guess if you played it for only a short time and only on PS3 you may not have noticed it as much, but that's kinda weird that you didn't notice at all. I was personally dropping my combos with Heihachi A LOT and my bread and butter with him isn't terribly complicated. It wasn't unplayable but there are definitely performance issues. Maybe they were introduced after a patch you didn't get while playing, I guess.

Maybe, I never downloaded any patches, but my team was Bison/Hugo, and both of their combos are really easy. I'll download whatever patch tonight and play a couple matches, see if I notice anything (tonight being tomorrow morning for you of course.) While I prefer PS3 by a landslide, I have no reason to lie either, I'm all about whichever system is superior, could care less what name is on it.

I have both systems too, I just prefer a lot of the features of the Xbox. My PS3 is mostly a Blu Ray player, though I do pick up the exclusives from time to time. Huge Uncharted fan, here.

If you want a good test, try my Heihachi bread and butter combo: (optional jump in attack) 6+LP > MP > HP xx 623+LP > HP xx 623+HK. You can tack on another hit to the final SRK by hitting another attack button but the string itself should be easy to land. The problem on the PS3 is that the HP inputs seem to come out too late more often than not and on the 360 I don't have the problem.

Alright, I'll give it a shot and post up afterwards. It probably won't be til somewhere around 2-3am your time though. Is there anything noticeable that I'll see other than the HP coming out more late than it should?

edit: I'm a huge Uncharted fan as well; well at least Uncharted 2, never played 1 and haven't played 3 yet, but I loved Tomb Raider as a kid and I feel like Uncharted is what Tomb Raider should have been, not to mention I like Nathan better than Lara. I can't really think of any other exclusives, but I bought the PS3 so that I could train on the systems controller, and I've been very pleased with it ever since. I'll admit I think I like the Xbox Live interface better, but not to to the point that I'd rather pay for it over PSN, which I don't find to bad except for when it won't let me add funds to my wallet for no reason.

The string only connects if the HP's hit, so you'll notice you can't finish it. That's basically it. As long as both of them land, the cancels are incredibly easy.

As for Uncharted, you started with the crown jewel, so neither of the other two will hit that bar. The third game is good but not as good and the first is very simple by comparison. Enjoyable still but not anywhere near the achievement Uncharted 2 is.

Ok, I wasn't sure if maybe the screen slowed down or anything, it'll just basically act as input lag on me though then I assume.

Yeah I figured U1 wasn't as good as I'd never even heard of it, or maybe I did and I just didn't care because I hadn't heard anything big. I don't really read reviews or lookup games anymore and I couldn't not notice U2 though, it was everywhere, so I got it and loved it. Just haven't had time/money for U3 yet, and that sucks that its not as good, but I'm still excited for it. I dunno when I'll get it with P4:A, TT2, and DoA5 coming out now -_- I have to get em all too because I'm the locals host here, I also have to practice my ass off at EVERY fighting game because I use the winnings from our locals to pay for the next local... -_-

Yuo mean get salty on why he lost in SFXT? That's the number one excuse. Every player will blame something game related. It can be a character, a tactic, or the system. I mean while we're at it. I should have a right to make the excuse that when i lose games on 360 and say," Oh I'm better on PS3! 360 sucks balls!!! It's a crappy console. I only lose games on 360 because I I don't like the 360." Totally fair, right?

...no, there are legitimate performance issues on some games. That's not the same thing at all. Multiple examples have been given.

To be honest with you, I don't believe you. I'm serious. I mean I must be too focus on trying to win, y'know?

I'm assuming over here (east coast) PS3 will be the main unless horrible issues. . .
But I have to say if you are a tournament player stick or pad you should have 2 controllers or a
reliable (non 5min crap solder job) dual modded pad/stick. Should be ready anytime, anywhere, at any event and on any (game supported)platform ready to fight.
