What are the chances of a DoA5 PC port?..

DoA Online was kind of a flop but still.. do you think TK would consider doing a PC port if DoA5 sells well on consoles?

I'd say about 0.0000001%. Fighting games do not do well on PC. As an example.. Street Fighter IV and its revamps sold like garbage on PC compared to the consoles. It's probably not worth putting resources into that, and TN knows that

A Wii U port will likely happen depending on how it sells and the attach rate for Razor's Edge. Vita is a bit more likely since a handheld port isn't likely to have a high development overhead. Easier to downsample textures than pay someone for better ones. PC? Zero chance. You can quote me on it.

You probably meant 0.0000001% do well on pc. But how could you even play a fighting game on mouse and key board? PC's are better for shooters and RPGs.

Ah. The 0.0000001% is the end of a sentence xD I should've put a period there. I always forget them when using weird symbols at the end lol. I edited it.

But yeah, it's not hard to play fighting games on PC. Two reasons..
The first, there are a bunch of arcade sticks and controllers that work on PC.

The second, I've played a fighting game with my keyboard, and, it was fine. A little weird at first, but it didn't take long to master the controls. If you must know, the game was KwonHo. It also used the typical punch, kick and guard buttons, and combinations of them to execute moves. I played DOA Online too.

The biggest problem with PC fighting games is that it's impossible to optimize properly for PC because there are so many different hardware setups. Frame drops are not uncommon in PC gaming, and you never know when windows decides to update something or whatever, which will cause your game to behave in a weird manner. A choppy framerate is the last thing you want, and that's why consoles are much better for fighting games, because you know that the chances for serious framerate issues are slim.

And besides being unprofitable, the last thing Team Ninja needs is hackers making more moves safe on block, allowing us to reach Critical Burst in 2-3 hits, greater recovery on failed counters, and low counter being hit by highs.

Truly, a terrible proposition.

Haven't they already done this, though? I would imagine that someone could easily hack an xbox to play their version of DOA. Similar to how players made Brawl+ for Super Smash Bros Brawl.

A certain someone on here was on his way to doing it with DOA4, but it's tougher and significantly more expensive to do on consoles than on PC.

Right. And because the way Xbox works, for instance, you need an exploit of some kind to do. Not to mention correct coding on how to do it, because as long as a disk is spinning, it's beyond difficult.

Brawl+ probably exists because of Neogamma, ELF loaders, and the backup channel, whereas Xbox it's significantly harder to do. The reason 3.1 was so popular among DOA fans in the states is because the Xbox of last generation was the Wii of this generation as far as hacking goes. It was super easy to do. And when I mean super easy, I mean I modded mine by taping a few wires together between a USB hub and a cut open controller end and wrapping electrical tape around the entire thing, then using a Flash Drive to transfer the files to the Xbox.

With the Xbox 360 having no up to date software holes, only hardware hacks, that already prevents the normal user from modding because not a bunch of people have soldering knowledge.

Apparently PC gaming isn't very big in Japan, so a lot of developers overlook the platform entirely. As improbable as I think it is of TN actually releasing a PC version, I'd love it if they did. This game would look great on PC.

Well practically every other fighting game sold like garbage compared to SF4, doesn't mean they should stop making those :) Additionally, SF4 and AE were released late on PC, and we never got a "Super" version. There are some good reasons why SF4 sales figures are low.

And I doubt it cost them a lot to even make a PC version. Used GFWL so the online integration is easy, and SF4 arcades were on Taito Type X2 which is a native Windows platform.

Personally, I'd much rather get a vita port than a pc version. Playing DOA5 on the go would be amazing. MK for vitawas actually really good for the most part.

I've never played a fighting game on PC and don't intend to. I'd have no problem with TN making a PC port if it would help the series gain attention, but I feel it would bomb and just cost them money.

As for the competitive scene, are PC ports even recognized? Would DOA5 PC even show up at tournaments? I think it would be much better for TN to do Vita and Wii U ports instead, though I'm not sure if those would be at tournaments either. I really doubt that a Vita version would be.
