Also, DoA1/1U had a 2-point hold system. All high and mid strikes could be held/parried simply by simply pressing the hold button and all low strikes by pressing down and the hold button. DoA++ has this system as well but added the 6-point counter system while a character is in "Critical" state.

I try to counter alot because I rarely block. lol

I know you can hold back or press "hold" to block but I don't block even though I play so many fighting games. I'm a beginner when it comes to 3D fighters so my mindset is so different compared to 2D fighters. It's so weird.

But of course when I'm spamming counter, my opponent will catch and punish me for it.

Feel free to correct me.

DOA1/DOAU/DOA++ - 3-point hold
DOA2 - 3-point hold
DOA2U - 4-point hold
DOA3 - 3-point hold
DOA4 - 4-point hold
DOAD - 3-point hold
DOA5/DOA5U - 4-point hold

Doa2 used 2 systems..
Console and arcade.. you could set it in the options menu.

Console was 3-point
Arcade was 4-point

Was 2 the only DOA installment that implemented these?

I do remember DOA1's hold button not being a guard back then unlike it is now.
