Dead or Alive 5+ is a portable adaptation of Team Ninja’s
Dead or Alive 5, developed for the PlayStation Vita and announced on December 1, 2012 with a release in North America on March 19, 2013; Japan on March 20, 2013; Europe on March 22, 2023. As the first DOA title to appear on a handheld Sony system, DOA5+ delivers the full
Dead or Alive 5 experience at 60 frames per second on a handheld portable device.
Built upon the foundation of the console version, DOA5+ retains its fast-paced, cinematic-style combat while incorporating several Vita-specific features and enhancements that make it an impressive showcase for portable fighting games. Whether you're battling through the full story mode, mastering techniques in training with further features given to the Move Details display, or playing with others online or locally with the ability to crossplay with PlayStation 3 fighters on
Dead or Alive 5, DOA5+ offers a versatile and content-rich package for its own right.
DOA5+ supports cross-save functionality with the PS3 version of DOA5, allowing players to transfer progress, costumes, and unlocked characters between systems using cloud saves.
Online multiplayer is also supported, with ranked and player matches. Although the Vita’s matchmaking may not be as robust or populated as consoles, it allows for competitive play on the go. You can also use ad-hoc local play for nearby matches.
Dead or Alive 5+ on PlayStation Vita features a unique "Touch Mode" where players fight in first-person view using touch screen controls. Players can tap, swipe, and pinch the screen to execute attacks, throws, and hold. This mode is locked to a single-player experience as players can only fight against the AI.
