DOA5LR Honoka Reveal Trailer

Releasing a day earlier than its original January 15th reveal date (all in part to yesterday's scan/screenshot leaks), here is the official reveal trailer for Honoka, "a sweet, easygoing kind of girl," Koei Tecmo subtly points out.

Her fighting style looks strikingly similar to a few of the cast members, doesn't it?

I felt that way with Marie, but i just get more and more disappointed. If anything, it's going to connect Raido to Helena again. I can oddly smell Raido becoming a good guy in DoA6, because we know we won't get more story.

I do love SC too but SCV was pretty bad overall... the costumization options were pretty cool tough i'm not gonna lie but history wise and when it comes to character originality it sucked

 

How can one character out of 30-something ruin the entire franchise? I will never understand people that think that every character in a fighting game's roster has to cater to their specific tastes and needs. The entire point of creating new characters is to get a broader appeal and to pique new players' interests. I'm not saying I'm a fan of her design and clone characters per se, but this is something the game didn't have in this form yet.

I mean, before DOA5:LR, we had zero clone characters, if anything okay maybe Phase 4 and Alpha, but I'd say they had 'enough' unique points/reasons to be standalone characters. Phase 4 pushing it a little, and people weren't that happy with her either. But now, both new characters for this edition ended up being clone characters. You don't see a problem with that? How do clone characters broaden the appeal? Unique and different character broaden the appeal, man.

Raidou already fit the all character styles bill. Okay maybe you can say Raidou is the ninja copy and Honoka is the everyone else copy. That still doesn't explain the the ridiculously generically plain Otaku sellout of a character design. Raidou at least fits in DOA. Why couldn't it have been Irene or someone else?

No one asked for this. It's not that people are upset because something didn't cater to their interest, it didn't really cater to anyones' interest besides anime otakus out there happy they are going to be having some new wanking material, but this didn't really help anyone who serious cares for the game.

Cosmetics, okay cool. Give them that. Don't give them an entire character design.

Question is, did she have the power before Raidou and "learned" his copy ability from him, or did she receive the power in some way from Raidou?

We may never know since Raidou's memory is officially lost.

 

I'll tell you what, Honaka inevitable DLC costumes displaying her oppai in dat soft engine will be something if you play DoA...not for the competitiveness.

I think that somehow they're gonna try to make her a guest character from an Anime, since everyone clearly noticed the similarities. I haven't even seen the Anime, and i still can't separate the two.

 

You don't like the character. That's fine. Now try some breathing exercises and calm down. The entire game want changed by adding her.

thats kind of the issue nothing has changed, for a lot of people DOA has gotten stale. the offline tournies lack the hype of the other fighters, we know nothing of any changes or if their even is any, and personally there doesn't seem to be any reason to get Last Round except for a few costumes. yeah im grateful my outfit got in but i think its a bit late because as for me the desire to play this game anymore is pretty much all gone.

its not because of this new character soley, its just that she represents that this game will have nothing new and we have better alternatives till DOA6

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that she clearly uses Raidou's throw where he chokes out energy from people. Since this move is exclusive to Raidou and stems from his specific power (And his love of rape sexy fun times) it would make sense that she is an illegitimate child of Raidou.

I agree she is kind of like the "non-ninja" version of Raidou, which I'm down for. Would have prefered an original character - especially one that isnt a school girl, but hey, what did we really expect?

I actually think she seems like a fun to play character, and come'on with the famitsu thing leaked and the translation about the superpower thing+raiodu tag pair, it was pretty obvious that this was going to happen...
