Probably no new DLC for PS3/Xbox360 users anymore...

I know Im going to get shit for this, but whatever, I am so sick of people saying," Its time to upgrade to the PS4 and Xbox1", why? I know lots of people who rushed out to buy a PS4 and Xbox1 and now its just sitting in their rooms, collecting dust, while they play their PS3s and Xbox 360s. All they seem to do nowadays, is release Rehashes and HD versions of games from the previous game systems, big deal! Even DOA5LR only has a few new levels, a few new costumes and new hairstyles, come on impress me TeamNinja! No thank you, I will stick to DOA5U.

Which is why they're pushing the same things. They need pulls to the ps4 and Xbone, but they don't have anything. As time goes on, they're going to get impatient and probably shut things down. They're also restricting backwards compatibility, which is making the switch alot harder. Remember, the xbone was originally going to put DRM on consoles as well. This is the console generation of the cheap money grabs, and will hopefully be remembered horribly as such, so future generations don't repeat the same mistakes. However, if the money grab works, and if doesn't divide people, they (every game company) will see that it worked, and know that cheap stuff will work again. We gave TN cheap money with the costumes, now they think they can offer costumes as a pre-order bonus and it's magically get people to pay for a new game, when they're just getting a rehash. Let's throw it on the PC so your stuff doesn't transfer, and you buy all the DLC all over again. When it doesn't pan out, we won't release another PC edition for a long time, ignoring the constant pleas.

Though as a side note, if the PC version does pan out, we'll see it on the PC more, but they won't if they can't milk the DLC from it. IMO, it's the only sane way of getting last round. if they DO manage to find a way to carry the DLC from the ps3 onto the PC via some kind of account linking, i'll get it despite my computer not being able to handle it. It's a platform that almost everyone already has, so you don't have to buy the console for the game, anymore. The thing is, we gotta keep the "hackers" from breaking the costumes out for free.

Well I agree with you, they might just ended up doing that anyways to ps3 & xbox360, shutting down the servers and etc. This will most definitely be a critical time for teamninja, because if they continue down this road, it will probably impact on how well DOA6 is received down the road & they might just lose a huge fan base and customer support because of it. Because honestly, you can't do that to people, just keep rehashing games, & expecting everyone to be okay with that..

I can understand them wanting to shut it down, though. Companies do that all the time, but there's not really a need to right now. Honestly, i think games should be moving more decentralized. Yes, this leads to more cheating, yes cheating is a problem, no it's not bad enough.

Yes I realize that they will do that eventually, but even now people are still hosting Tournaments and online live events online for DOA5U, and even when they release DOA5LR, the PS3 and Xbox360 versions will still have lots of people playing online, it will still be alive and kicking. Just bugs the sh*t out of me, that TeamNinJa went on twitter saying with their corporate response saying,"PS3 and Xbox360 are old and no good anymore, screw you guys and we aren't going to give you the full features, deal with it!" Heres your lame update though....Like come on, give me a break!

I know. The more and more i hear about it, the more i feel like they're being forced by Sony and Microsoft to push harder or loose their seal of approval which is a big deal (imagine getting a game and reading the same things you read on your gamesharks about it not being officially supported [even worse is that it would not be downloadable, either]). IMO, TK should've just said "we need a single platform, anyway, let's just put everything onto the PC, and hack up some fancy account linking to import the DLC from the consoles." Granted, that wouldn't be an easy answer, but it would've sent the message and would've gotten other gaming companies thinking about it and force MS and Sony to stop the crappy direction their consoles are going in where you have to pay for built in features that you already paid for when you bought your brick.

And honestly its just pathetic at this point.

3 years into the consoles lifecycle (which used to be an average of only what, 4-5 years?), and there's STILL little to no reason to buy the damn things.

Next gen is still mostly ports, while I'm STILL having trouble affording all the new games coming out for current gen, and on top of that my backlog is building more and more due to the games with gold and weekly sales, so I'm pretty much guaranteed to have a huge library of current gen games to play through for YEARS.

Only reasons I can think of for next gen are Kingdom Hearts 3, Metal Gear Solid V, and...there was one more I can't even remember right now. The rest are all ports or generic bargain bin games.

Well, DOA5U owners stuck on last gen consoles get a free Last Round upgrade. The only thing you'd pay for is DLC, which will contain the new characters and costumes.
Which means that all I need to pay for is Marauder Leon outfit. So Last Round will cost me a grand total of 3 dollars lol!

Honestly, shutting servers down would be an incredibly idiotic move, because most people are still playing on their Xbox 360s and PS3's, especially with all these sales going on, and new games still coming out and next gen being mostly really expensive paperweights.

They may still try it to force people to get next gen, but all theyll do is alienate everyone because, there's still little to no reason to actually buy next gen.

Remember how long ago i got my ps3? Less than a year ago, it took me until then just to justify it. The PS4 has no chance, and i'm quite vocal about my opposition to purchasing anything by microsoft after what they did to me and others.

I'm still trying to get through some of my gamecube games

Everyone wanted to push their games to the next gen to stay "current," yet the reality is the competition is no more current than they are. The generation came out way too fast.

They're doing a good job with these announcements. Why stop there?

I agree with you 100%, its pathetic and disappointing! I can afford a PS4 or Xbox1, but I see no reason to buy at all! I am completely happy with my ps3 and I fear Teamninja is becoming like Capcom every day unfortunately...having the same problem with Dead or Alive 5 as Street Fighter 4, every 7-8 months, lets make another Super Super Ultra Edition with a few new levels, new characters and add some DLC costumes as well.... (Shakes head) :genra:

I don't see the problem here considering that we asked for those updates to SFIV. Ultra wouldn't have happened if we didn't ask for gameplay and balance changes and more characters.

Which is all stuff that could have been a simple patch or dlc, not a "rerelease". It'd be different when talking about DOA6 or SF5, but no, its just rereleasing the SAME game, with some minor tweaks.

Ultra was DLC.

Anyone who already had Super SFIV could simply pay $14 for the upgrade. The $40 retail release was simply for those who hadn't bought either Super or AE previously.

Ah, I don't actually own SF4 so I didn't know that, just saw it in stores. But still, why even charge/advertise it as a game in its own right when its little more than a patch? same goes for UMVC3.

You don't see a problem here?! HA! Why is there 4 versions of the same game?? You got Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4, Super Arcade Edition Street Fighter 4 and then finally Ultra Street Fighter 4....and you don't see a problem here? The same thing can be said about Dead or alive 5, you have Dead or alive 5, then Dead or alive 5 ultimate and now Dead or alive 5 last round. They should of just stopped at Super Street Fighter 4 and Dead or alive 5 ultimate, then did patches and updates. I can't wait for the next installments of games coming soon in the next 6 months, "Super Ultra Omega Street Fighter 4 & Dead or alive 5 Last Round Deluxe Edition! " ;)

The standalone releases are there so that people who didn't buy the original game can get the updated version without having to buy the older game. The new title I assume also helps with the marketing since it looks like a new title and gets people excited.

Except that they did do patches and updates. It just so happened that each update has a specific name.

Here's a fun fact, you can simply put you Super Street Fighter IV disc in, and as long as you've purchased the DLC, the game that will run will be Ultra.

What are you talking about? The PS4 and Xbone were released 14 months ago, not three years. In Japan the PS4 is hardly even one year available and the Xbone just 4 months.

I think we're dealing with a time traveler here.

Heres another Fun Fact for you, you don't get the update unless you Pay for it. So lets say you just bought Street Fighter 4 for $19.99 ,you would have to pay $15 to upgrade to Super Street Fighter 4 then you have to cough up $29.99 for the arcade edition and then another $39.99 for the ultra edition, so you think its okay to justify buying around $100.00 for patches, and improvements features that should of been Free, then okay then..(Shakes head) The whole thing is just a money grab and you don't even realize it.. & I could say the same thing about the whole Dead or alive 5 experience & all its DLC as well.

Exactly, and yet, I love it that people are still defending this..people don't realize this, but if no one says anything or complains, companies like Capcom and TeamNinja are going to keep doing this, and yet people just keep on buying rehashes of old games, with a few new features, when they should of just been free updates or if you feel the need to make people to pay for it, just make it DLC. Don't force people to go pay another $49.99 for the same game basically and screw the people who bought the previous versions...your just S-O-L on that..supposely...
