Day 10 of IPL's 12 Days of DOA: Game Play Footage Set 1

Day 10 of IGN Pro League's 12 Days of Dead or Alive 5 has arrived. Today they bring a few game play matches from their staff of players who have had some time with the August game build.

The characters in battle are Ayane, Bass, Eliot, Hayate, La Mariposa, Jann Lee, Lei Fang, and Rig. We also get to see the new stage "Home" and the tigers are finally shown off in "The Show". Personally, the tigers don't look anywhere near as annoying as Dead or Alive 4's cheetah because they are triggered by hitting the wall danger zone and the ring master announces their departure. You be the judge. All the matches from set one are on display below, but be sure to check out more info from doa.ign.com. My personal favorites are the Jann Lee & Hayate matches, and any match that has Bass winning. What can I say? I'm a pro wrestling fan. I just wish I could have seen his F5.

Lisa's BT :4::P: takes 14 frames in DOA4/D. Could be around that number from what I've seen in that video. Can't be sure, tho.
As of the E3 demo, the recovery on a hold is 13 frames, so that would explain. If this were the Alpha demo which is 17 frames of recovery, I'm sure it would have landed.

Exactly. But with a jab (10 frames), the combo/string can start again, without problem. Seems like the new hold recovery, it's between a fast hit (jab), and a slow hit (uppercat, low kick, etc). In the first case, the block it's impossible, and in the second, can be blocked.

eliot play was terrible. in the match vs Rig he could have easily beat him if the player was less hesitant. Rig was playing too slowly that round. Eliot could have easily overpowered him. The match against Bass was more interesting, cuz Bass is a pressure monster, but again, less hesitation on Eliot's part could have made that match way moe interesting to watch. Eliot is very Mid-centered as far as his offense goes, but his mixups are not bad at all. Most of his Low-mid-high transitions are fast too, even though they can be predictable at times. Besides all that, WHERE IS HIS 214 THROW?! probably his most useful throw and nobody uses it? or does he not have it anymore?

Two more videos of Brad!!
Let's see if we find some new moves...asides of their new, Shun Di's Tentouritsu copycat stance.

I like the little bounce off the ground that Tina and Bass can do from an attack. I assume that makes their ground grabs guaranteed.

If not top tier, they at least look very viable now. Grappler players must be happy.

Also, Brad can achieve critical burst with 3 hits. Nice.

Extremely happy. I'm digging the crumple properties of Bass's low dropkick too. Wonder if there could be enough time after that to follow with a low throw, or other hits.

Lol I was beginning to wonder when the Eliot combo was going to end >_> Very very good, I'm glad Eliot got some love, now if only we could see some better Brad Wong play, I'm surprised and glad to know that Brad can Critical Burst in 3 hits.

I think with his mix-ups, that makes him even more viable. But agreed, need to see him in good hands to get a feel for how well he's been put together.

I like transitions in 0:37, 1:15 and 2:22. Their low punch in the new stance, have knockdown properties. Interesting.

Edit: in 0:20, Brad kicks 3 times after combo...in DoA 4, the last kick never hit as i remember; long knockdown threshold?

No offense, but you cant rate shit from these vids and I would certainly not call them high level. The lack of burst is not a fault in the game but a fault in the move application of the players as the chances were there multiple times. but it is to be expected since they haven't had time to experience the game fully and I don't expect the players to be grand masters in all the cast.

Burst, as it is now, is fine. But I still think hold recovery needs to be returned to alpha status. That one fix is vital.

Offense taken. You clearly do not know what high level DOA5 is all about. Come to a tournament in the US and get stomped on, then write up an 800 word post apologizing for all of the falsities you've been spouting on these forums for months.

TBH i believe it doesnt matter WHAT GAME and who is playing it, one can only start talking about high level after a few majors have been played and the metagame becomes stable.

DrDogg knows his shit theres no doubt about it, but i wouldnt call any video prerelease high level... like i said, id start talking about high level of play after a few majors have passed.

It's the highest level of play seen thus far and I'm not even using any of my main characters. The only exception would probably be the latest Eliot/Brad video.

I'm sure the gameplay will expand with time, but a lot of the stuff you're expecting to see, you just aren't going to see. Just because I can CB on the 4th hit does not mean I want to. That's what my opponent is expecting, and SE is pretty effective in this game... especially against Jann Lee.

Maybe I'll get on tomorrow and play before the tournament starts...

It was nice to finally see two skilled people playing in the Elliot vs Brad. Elliot knew what he was doing. Still need to see a good Ayane player.

now this was fun to watch... exept for the camera going all spacey like that. I do wish Eliot would utilize his throws better though, and im obviously not talking about the 236Throw cuz he really got good damage out of that bad boy. Just more throws in general, i really want to see how his throw-game pans out in DOA5
