Oh yeah Windy Valley. That could look pretty cool in Smash. My top picks are the ones I mentioned. I thought they would all be pretty unique.

I don't think it would have been too hard for them to make Shadow and Metal an alternate costume. It'd be cool to see them reference the comics, but I doubt a full model of Scourge since this would be the first time we hear his voice. They could make a real green Sonic though. If they were to give the Sonic series another character slot, it should definitely be Knuckles. As much as I like Shadow and Metal, they'd just be clones.

That Riders gear though... I'd buy that in a heartbeat! lol I feel like it's asking for much from Sakurai though. This all just reminds me how much they could have put into alternate costumes. Not just for Sonic, but most of the characters really.

Really, since a good handful of characters get not only alternate costumes but full alternate characters with separate voices, plus dlc being an option, there's no excuse anymore.

But in Sonics case, Scourge is just sonic anyway so he could just be an alternate costume. Though thanks to that prick Penders he (and virtually everyone from the 20+year running comic) can never be used for anything again.

Anyways I think metal sonic would be too different he does t even move his body the same.

Mecha sonic on the other hand...

Mecha would be cool to see if they actually did it. Shadow should definitely be a thing though. They would only have to change his running animation. Everything else Sonic does would look fine on him.

And, on the alternate costumes/characters, I agree. There's no reason they can't add any with DLC being an option. A few could be different versions of the Zelda characters, Daisy (if they never plan on adding her), old Marth and Roy and Ms. Pac-Man.

And then let's not even get into how Dr Mario/lucina/Roy/Lucas shouldve just been alt costumes like the Koopalings, Robin and Wii Fit, rather than separate characters.

But on Shadow it depends on if they wanna go original SA2/Heroes route where he's just sonic with yellow blurs instead of blue, OR Current shadow where he doesn't really do Sonic moves anymore, instead focusing on his chaos powers and weapons.

I can see them just thinking of Shadow like he was in SA2/Heroes. But, even if they didn't, we all know Shadow could do anything Sonic can anyway. In later games, he still mostly played the same as Sonic with just weapons and some Chaos powers. Lucina didn't even fight like Marth, but they made her a clone of him and a separate character. That's Sakurai logic for you though. lol

Corrin was a mistake. Shantae or Shovel Knight deserved that spot in the roster way moreso. But it is what it is.

Be that as it may, Bayonetta was a pleasant surprise.

Disappointed we get another FE fighter.

Bayonetta literally saved the stream for me. I was so close to tuning out after Corrin's announcement.

Same here.
I understand that Smash is about marketing too, but Corrin is just too big.

How can FE have 6 characters when DK has only 2 ? Why do we need another blonde swordman ? Was Roy really necessary ?
Trust me I'm excited about FE:Fates, it's on my list, but this was not necessary. At least Corrin feels unique in terms of moves.

Bayonetta is a great choice, and really reinforce her as a Nintendo mascot somehow.

I was very excited for this Direct as it was the last one, I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I'll have to wait for Smash 5 to have "real fresh Nintendo mascots". I'm a bit tired of third parties and swordmen. Can't wait for Ice Climbers' return too!

I want to see the other winners from the BALLOT!

im probably the only one who likes the Corrin announcement over Bayonetta.

with most of smash's characters its a way to see them fight like never before since they mostly come from really simple games. Bayonetta on the other hand is from THE best hack n slash period. forcing her on a 2d plane and stripping away most of her moveset and weapons makes me feel like she's limited more that anything. i can see why others are excited, but that's just my two cents.

So basically, Corrin was not part of the Smash Ballot.

No. Only Bayonetta was.

Cloud probably had a good spot on the ballot too, but he was actually decided and designed before the ballot.

I guess they will keep the other candidates and new fresh Nintendo IPs (Youkai, Splatoon) for the future Smash game.
Can't wait to see who will make the list out of the 58 characters....

I'm ok with Corrin. Wish we got him instead of Robin (wanted Chrom) so we don't have 2 avatar characters. But, Bayonetta looks really good. I'm just happy we didn't get Shovel Knight and Shantae since I'm not a fan of either of them.

Should have gotten Wolf. Sucks this is the end though. I really wanted some more Melee stages. I miss Rainbow Cruise...

I'm more disappointed that its just more realistic characters. I want more Nintendo cartoon mascots.

Where's that painter girl from Kirby, or the girl from Mischief Makers, or some old super Nintendo characters or something?

I have zero hype for miss "DMC wannabe" Bayonetta. Wasn't a big fan of her game tbh.

The disturbing "Cora lines Other Mother as played by Sarah Palin" design did nothing to endear me to her.

I'm with Argentus, this is a mascot fighter. Where are my mascots? Actually, Cloud and Bayonetta are two solid recognizable gains to the roster but I am speaking in regards with the overall roster. Hoping the next Smash is more diverse.

Thoughts on Bayonetta and... Corrin ?
Both awesome imo even though I never wanted them before. Corrin may be another sword-fighting Fire Emblem character, but his Dragon form and lance attacks (Dragon Fang I think it's called?) allow him to stand out. He looks fun as hell and the intro trailer was a great introduction to the presentation.

Bayonetta's trailer was amazingly done and got me hyped even though I've never played or considered playing a Bayonetta game. Loved the dialogue between her, the Pits and Palutena (some innuendo in there too, hehe). Her moveset looks crazy good and I love that they made her a combo-based character. Being able to extend her attacks into gun followups is also really cool.

I'm also really excited for the Tails and Knuckles Mii costumes! I won't have to use the crappy Tails and Knuckles Miis I have anymore when February comes! I wish that at least one of them was an actual character, but we take those.

The best part of the presentation was, without a doubt Bayonetta Kirby. Fabulous af: http://i.imgur.com/OdBUH21.gifv

Kinda hyped for both. Bayo because, well, it's Bayo. Corrin because he isn't a Marth clone.

That said, if Smash 5 could round down the FE reps to Marth, Ike, Roy and Robin, that'd be swell.

Also sad that Wolf didn't make the cut.
