Yo DOA community

It is I the one and only Zack MasterHavik coming at ya late night here in St.Peter, MN. I have been lurking the forums for a bit here. And I just have something to say.....

Why are we always fighting?

Why are we always ganging up on people?(This includes me too. Ya'll know who you are)

Why are being rude or trying to claim someone is being rude when they are not?

Now I ain't here to start shit. I got a few more questions.

Why do we refuse to travel?

Why do we play the excuse card?

Why do some of us bothering with DOA if we're just going to be online warriors?( Not everyone)

We should traveling for this game. Stop making excuses and get out offline to play this game if you love it so much. I'm making plans to be at two majors and a huge midwest major back in Chicago. What have you been doing? I'm going to try and make a call to the guy running the midwest major in Chicago to see if he can get DOA 5 there as a side game.

I don't wanna start fights or anything like that. I just want to bring the community together. I want unity, peace, love, and respect man. Stop with all the baseless claims and underlining namecalling. This thread is to talk about the DOA community. Simple as that. Don't make it anything else.

DOA5 tagline may have something to do with it. =P

People find community is designating scapegoats. It's common psych/soc theory/phenomena.

Why are being rude or trying to claim someone is being rude when they are not?
Probably related to the above, though the degree of this here seems disproportional to average.

Why do we refuse to travel?
I have no car or money. I assume many others are in the same boat.

Why do we play the excuse card?
Elaborate.

Why do some of us bothering with DOA if we're just going to be online warriors?( Not everyone)
See: two points up.

Good luck bringing the community together, though. I vehemently support efforts to build DOA's offline scene for those who are able to do so.

line by line

Good point.

Oh really?

Okay.

I got no car and I was still able to get to all my locals and some gatherings back in Chicago. How many times are you going to use that excuse?

What I mean by the excuse card is why we don't travel. MK, Tekken, Sf, and marvel get people to travel.

Thanks man. I'll try. I'm going to show off the game to all the smash players here on campus.

I absolutely love your enthusiasm and passion for this game and it's community but realistically for me it would be quite difficult (and expensive) for me to do for the simple reason that i live on the desert state of my country and the nearest tournaments for me are in Melbourne and Sydney, which is roughly a four and a half hour flight from where I am. I am not making excuses and it's not a matter of wanting or not wanting to go, it's simply a matter of being able to afford it and being able to justify paying for something i can already play online at home for free. I love the game, of course I do and I'd be the first to give it my full support but little obstacles such as location, price and the timing of such events (when I'm not working) prevent me from attending these tournaments. If a tournament was to happen in my home town or nearest city however, I'd find it much easier to attend and would go without hesitation.

Until then it will be online DOA5 for me for now until a tournament pops up in my city. They had scenes and even pub events for Tekken and Street Fighter so i am sure in time we will get one for DOA5 too.

I hope you can get to a tournament too, goodluck. :)

i would say the reason most people dont travel is laziness and cheapness. i mean yea, some people are in dire straights but do you serously expect me to believe that every single member of the doa community is incapable of earning an income and saving a few hundred dollars every year? because thats the excuse everybody makes. some/most of you are just lying lol.

^There's a DoA tourney in Sydney!!!???

When? Where? Tell meeeeeeeeee.
Well there was the EB EXPO fighters arena in Sydney which had sessions for Dead or Alive 5, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown etc and the couch warriors event in Melbourne for DOA5. Both have already passed so I am not sure when the next event in Sydney is unfortunately.

Until I can make enough money to buy a car or until someone pities my ass enough to come pick it up for some events.
I know I sound lazy, but I'm being realistic. It's not like I can change that situation in a short-period of time, even if I would like to.

I'm on an accelerated school program. With 20 or more units every semester, I could take up a job, but my GPA would take a hit as a result (and I'd have consequently less time to practice DOA, which is already limited, making it less viable). I'm just not smart enough to do that. School requires a lot of time and focus for me.
But when I graduate (which unless I fuck up should not be too long), I hope the DOA5 community is still chugging in gear. If it is, I'll make a considerably more forceful effort to get to some events. Even with no chance of winning, I think it'd be fun, and I'd love to show my support.

I have a friend near Perth who loved DOA until 5 came out. I've been trying to convince him it's the best in the series, but he's determined to reject it. Think you could pressure him for me? xD

Why are we always fighting?

I'm a fighter.

Why are we always ganging up on people?(This includes me too. Ya'll know who you are)

That's how we roll son.(Who ganging up on people?)

Why are being rude or trying to claim someone is being rude when they are not?

Who is being rude? Also this is the internet. Confusion is self-explanatory.

Why do we refuse to travel?

Well I don't think anyone is necessarily "refusing". Some people may not have the money. Some people may be too young. Some people may be married, have children, or a job that makes it hard. Some people just don't care and only want to learn the game from a casual seat. Our goal should be to get those who care to travel.

Why do we play the excuse card?

Because some cards are legit.

Why do some of us bothering with DOA if we're just going to be online warriors?( Not everyone)

Because not everyone want to go out there way to be competitive. Some people just want to be gamers who enjoy and have fun from home. I don't really think anything is wrong with that. Not everyone who loves football wants to be a football player.

We should traveling for this game. Stop making excuses and get out offline to play this game if you love it so much. I'm making plans to be at two majors and a huge midwest major back in Chicago. We have a tournament coming up hoping that it have a good turn out. We're trying to see how we can get a regular thing going also. But again I don't expect everyone who play DOA to want to play it competitively. I don't expect everyone to want to travel. No one should "have" to feel bad because they're not. Some people I'm sure want to with there every being, but for some reason can't. People still should be able to enjoy the game. That's what they spent there $60 for. Now I'm sick of DOA not getting a proper turn out etc. But I feel like other said people are lazy. Some people don't give a sh**. And some people want to but can't. Not to mention this community needs to do a better motivation job. Because seriously it really lacks in that department.

I'm honestly tired of the know it all casual/online players who act like they know it all and don't know sh** and don't want to do anything to prove anything, but how full of it they are at running there mouth. I'm also tired of the vets who act like a bunch of drama queens making everything worse. Feels like a bunch of immature people in high school.

I am 33, married and have a 5 month old daughter and a 2 year old job. I have only been into fighting games since jan. 2012. I would like to go to offline tournaments around Europe in the future, when my daughter grows up a bit, if only to feel the vibe and visit new places. For now, it's simply not possible.

If you put a video game over your spouse you definitely should not be getting married. XD
Thing is, unlike lack of transportation/a small child, a spouse should not be consistently barring you from multiple events. Like yeah, if it's your anniversary, skip the tournament and bond with your spouse. But if she's telling you you can't attend any events she's just trying to exert control over you. Regardless of whether it's for a video game, no one who wants to dictate who you are and what you like is someone you should be living with, imo (exception being your parents, obviously).

Blah, right around finals.
If I find a way to make it out, I'll let you guys know.

Not convenient? Perhaps. Not possible? Very untrue.

Ask Hubbs. He was RUNNING three tournaments a year and raising a newborn. Though in all fairness, I have no idea how the hell he pulled that off...

If you marry anyone who doesn't tolerate your passion I have to wonder just how rich this woman is.

Sure, everything is possible. My wife, my daughter and my job are more important than DOA5 that's all. BTW do you have sons/daughters? Just wondering.

Let's see..... SonicFox, Noah, Winrich, me(I'm 19, but I went to my first tournament when I was 15), oofmatic( he been traveling since he was 15 for SC), Kayane, and pretty much any decent smash player since a lot of them are really young.( I know most of them too.) So too young excuse is not valid.

Stop using the money excuse. Have you ever heard of planning? I plan out WAY ahead of time for which evens I wanna go too. For example, I was able to go to three big anime convention last year and still have money because I knew how to mange money and got my badge ahead of time. I also had a reliable way to go there and back home. You gotta plan man. If you wanna go.

I have met many, many, many married men at the tournaments I went too. That can't be used as a excuse. Heck, all the upper tier guys in the mk community are either in a relationship or married. Heck one of my friends back in Chicago has a girlfriend and he still went to tournaments with me. It's about finding a balance my friend.

But you're right we need people to travel. Now onto your next quote.

"I'm honestly tired of the know it all casual/online players who act like they know it all and don't know sh** and don't want to do anything to prove anything, but how full of it they are at running there mouth. Take notes Shadow and Brute. This what I call planning. I love what you said wong. Take your time man. This will be here. There is a player back in Chicago that got his 10 year old son into playing mk9 at a high level and actually took him. I think your kids

might like that if they want to have fun.
Take your time man. Make a plan.

Anyways back to Shadow.

"This community is far from being together. <Rant is over> I haven't had any sleep. I probably won't know wtf I was on about. Good day. XD"

It's called lighting a fire under everyone's ass dude. Tom Brady did this to the mk community and take a look at what happen there.
