Speaking from the main stage of Summer Jam 8, Team NINJA Creative Director Tom Lee has just confirmed that Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be hitting all consoles DoA5U has already released on as well Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The same teaser shown earlier today in Japan at the DoA5U Summer Carnival by Hayashi Yosuke was shown on stage (in English this time) and the game will be arriving Spring 2015. It was also confirmed to be the final Dead or Alive 5 installment. Please continue the discussion below!

Update: The Japanese trailer has been released! Check below for my analysis and be sure to add anything I might have missed!

  • Crimson returns as a playable stage. The time of day seems exactly the same from DoA2U and there is a lot more going on in the background. Later shots of the stage don't confirm it but the hidden room is likely going to return. Wonder what knocking someone into the TV will do this time around? And maybe that TV in the opening shot is the same one from the hidden room.
  • Way more particle effects on everything from explosions to hitting the energy walls to slamming into the floor on the Lab
  • New visual effect on Critical Burst
  • Call me crazy but there seem to be far more penguins on Ends of the Earth
  • New hairstyles for the girls
  • Anti-aliasing making everything look far more clean
  • New tag intros
  • Costume contest entries showing up in the announcement trailer
  • DangerZone returns but remember that super high bounce is likely after a KO, not just a normal stage mechanic
  • Waiting for a translation for the Core Fighters slide

I hope there will be some discount, or combo price for people who want to own both current gen and next gen version.

For me, I would like to get PS3 +PS4 version.
Since it is free to play online on PS3, plus all my friends have a PS3.
But not many have a PS4.

I'll be on Xbox One when the game is out. I hate buying digital stuff lol
Me too, though I may not have one when it's out but I'll probably have one by Christmas next year.

I love my physical copies of games, they're like precious to me. With digital copies they just take huge space off the harddrive.

Also there should be a Core Fighters version for both Xbox One and PS4.

They take up huge space with discs now too. Mandatory installs on both platforms so pick your poison.

1st thing I do after I get PS4 is replace the default HDD with a 2TB one. Who here has an Xb1, did they do that external HDD update yet?

It's been working fine since the update. That was a few months back. Only people I know having trouble are trying to use non-USB 3.0 drives.

New haircut, new stages and all that stuff is nice n' good, but what I'm really hopin' for is some improvement with this netcode. That's the only thing I need.

I'll probably get the Kinectless Xbox One console, since I never cared for Kinect to begin with. I heard that Kinect takes too much memory space. Is that true?

According to the replies I read at Amazon, they take up about an additional 10% to 15% of the HDD space. You're not missing anything by going the Kinect-less route, I plan on doing the same unless M$ comes with a Kinect game that just blows things out of the water... which I don't see as happening.

Oh okay.

Kinect has a certain amount of the GPU and system memory dedicated to it but the latest xdk allows devs to disable it entirely. Kinect causes no performance issues just by having one connected. The files for it are baked into the OS so not having it saves no HDD space.

Yeah, the only good Kinect games are Dance Central and Child of Eden the way it's meant to be played, though you can use a controller with Child of Eden.

Back on topic, I'm getting it on Xbone because I like discs because if I need to clear space on a hard drive, I can. Also, having an actual physical object helps prove ownership. And here's hoping that Phase 4 gets a substantial upgrade.

If it's anything like the upgrade from 5 to Ultimate, everyone will be getting new moves/tweaks to existing moves, like how Kasumi got a new 66KK and her old 66KK had the second K only work on hit/block.

Meh, I never cared about Kinect to begin with, so I'll just go with the Kinectless version.

Ugh I fucking Knew it!!! I was chatting it up with Emperor_cow about how I refuse to do any type of guides until the game was finalized. He was assured that the Game was in its completion and no more gameplay changes would surface. And Look at this shit! I swear my intuition with this game be spot on as always. Well ok guys and gals, you will see my return with Doa5 Last Round!!!
