Speaking from the main stage of Summer Jam 8, Team NINJA Creative Director Tom Lee has just confirmed that Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be hitting all consoles DoA5U has already released on as well Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The same teaser shown earlier today in Japan at the DoA5U Summer Carnival by Hayashi Yosuke was shown on stage (in English this time) and the game will be arriving Spring 2015. It was also confirmed to be the final Dead or Alive 5 installment. Please continue the discussion below!

Update: The Japanese trailer has been released! Check below for my analysis and be sure to add anything I might have missed!

  • Crimson returns as a playable stage. The time of day seems exactly the same from DoA2U and there is a lot more going on in the background. Later shots of the stage don't confirm it but the hidden room is likely going to return. Wonder what knocking someone into the TV will do this time around? And maybe that TV in the opening shot is the same one from the hidden room.
  • Way more particle effects on everything from explosions to hitting the energy walls to slamming into the floor on the Lab
  • New visual effect on Critical Burst
  • Call me crazy but there seem to be far more penguins on Ends of the Earth
  • New hairstyles for the girls
  • Anti-aliasing making everything look far more clean
  • New tag intros
  • Costume contest entries showing up in the announcement trailer
  • DangerZone returns but remember that super high bounce is likely after a KO, not just a normal stage mechanic
  • Waiting for a translation for the Core Fighters slide

I'm not really a fan of the Senran Kagura collaboration idea. I can take it or leave it. Nothing against SK personally, but I don't think this game needs more ninja or sexualization, lol.

That being said, if we're gonna get SK costumes (which I think is the most likely outcome of this), I say they might as well give me a Daidouji costume for Nyotengu. Because tengu-geta.

Though, I honestly don't think I'd pick that costume very often.

Let's say if Danger Bounce is back for that specific level... well that's going to be a great level that pays homage to DOA 1. Which could also mean DOA's Boss: Raidou?

#speculation

I just believe that in general, while with DoA5U the focus for the stages was put on NG and DOA3 levels, for DoA5LR it will be addressed to DoA1 and DoA2 (maybe even in the music matter...).

So, if that would be the case, me and many others would be happy the see Arial Garden and Demon Church coming back.

Well, one of my personal "come backs" would be KOKU AN, DRAGON HILLs, COLOSSEUM, AQUARIUM and WHITE STORM ...

Kronin, I definitely like the idea of seeing more DOA2 stuff, but what about DOA4? Do you think we will see less DOA4 stuff because of the scale of the stages?

Aerial Gardens seem to be the most requested stage, honestly I will be amazed to not see it in DoA5LR, while Dragon Hills seemed to be the stage more requested after it.

Koku An and Demon Church get many sympathy even if less popular (but actually I wasn't expecting to see Crimson or the Danger Zone 1, so we could get even nice surprises!). In particular Demon Church is my favourite stage from DoA2 (but just in its Ultimate interaction) so I would love to see it back :D

I don't believe that this is a problem, Team Ninja could resolve easily the situation in some ways slighty changing the stages (for example putting obstacles in front of the scales for not allowing direct throws, just as already happens for the Temple stage in DOA5).

I know that usually it's said that the stages of the old games were better than the DoA4's ones, but IMO more simply it's the nostalgic factor that play its usual role: people are always more inclined to ask old things because more close to their childhood or happy memories with their first times with the series: I like many stages from DoA4, but it's not amazing for me to see more requests for DoA1, 2 and 3 stages and so more chances for those stages to be selected.

By the way I could be totally wrong, and maybe we will get even a DoA4 stage with my surprise.

I hope they redo some of the stages in DOA5.

Stages like Arrival/Dead Or Alive/The Ends Of The Earth needs to be given a huge facelift/overhaul.

As for the 3 circus stages (Tiger Show/The Show etc) needs to be scrapped.

So it's going to be on four consoles? Unless they've somehow mastered the art of cross-platform play, I have a bad feeling the online community is going to get pretty divided. Not to mention the fact that everyone will have to worry about what controllers/adapters to bring to each event even more, now.
Balance changes is another thing to worry about.
