Yeah DW8 made everyone so diverse from each other. Now most of the unique weapons are getting switched with similar ones.

I think they're trying to go for a more realistic approach. But still

Like how can you go from giving Zhenji a flute to giving her basically Diaochan's whip sword

Like how can you go from giving Zhenji a flute to giving her basically Diaochan's whip sword

and how Lu Lingqi had Lu Bu's cross pike from 6. Now she has a copy of Xingcai's sword and shield
Or how Zhang He is famous for his wolverine claws. Now he just has the same throwing knives as that other girl.
Or how that one guy used a giant paintbrush. now he just has a copy of the other guy's dual axes
etc etc.

Also while some of the later weapons (Arrow miniguns, magic paintbrushes, scrolls that summon ghosts, rocket drills, etc) were a little over the top, we don't exactly turn to Dynasty Warriors for "realism", and that claim comes across as especially stupid considering this game introduces leaping up onto rooftops, Naruto style.

that dude was fucking awesome in DW8. As an NPC is glory hound dialogue made him seem like a bitch, but then his actual moveset is so ridiculously beastly he became an instant fav.

Now watch him lose that to become one of the many copypaste movesets.

Surprised they haven't revealed a new female character yet. They usually add one per game, although the cast still isn't fully revealed yet so there could still be one

just looked at the other revealed characters. it just gets sadder and sadder.

Yueying lost her scyther to just get a copypaste halberd like everyone else
Zhuge Dan lost his baton and now just have a copy paste of Zhuge Liang's war fan, same as Sima Yi
Sun Ce lost his tonfas to get some kind of Klingon weapon, the same thing Wang Ye now also has instead of his old polearm.

etc etc.

Thiiiiis close to canceling my pre order. I'm seriously just here for Lu Lingqi and she's one of the many characters who got screwed over, losing her weapon to become a moveset clone to someone else.

I also like his design cause it kinda looks Scottish, too. I can't exactly say why, maybe it's the hair.
han dang with zhang he's claws lmaaao that would be classic but sad. i loved han dang's halbred.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new female because the female designs so far are pretty awesome, especially Guan Yingping's epic hair.

I'll still get it just to try it out, plus it's still kinda interesting. But I really hope they go back to more unique weapons for DW9 Xtreme Legends

i loved how it was shortened into a functional battleaxe, and his moveset was like a mini Lu Bu, just absolute beast with a unique mechanic to charge any of his moves for a stronger hit and enhanced moveset.

Yeah the only reason they can get away with 90ish characters is if they are all unique from each other..

Right now the only selling point seems to be "OPEN WORLD YOU GAIZ" which doesn't really appeal to me at all since it seems to be the usual "open world just for the sake of saying open world" with absolutely nothing actually in it. I mean the least they could do is put Dead Rising levels of bad guys in there, and the actual gameplay is as clunky as ever from the looks of it. Why are the spinoffos (One piece, zelda, gundam, etc) better mechanically, than the actual core Dynasty Warriors games?!
