After all these years I'm still amazed by the graphics. Seriously, holy shit. Pop this sucker in right now. The stages look better than DOA5, although to be fair 5's limited by not one but two consoles.

My DOA 3.1 recently broke. So upsetting.

I remember back when we were doing a DOA3.1 tourney in VA (VTYME2 I think). We were on a 27" CRT with T5 to our right and left on HD.

The game that released in 2002 looked better on a CRT than the game that was an arcade port and took 1 minute to pre-install on a PS2 and ran on an HDTV.

Man I had wish I had Doa3.1 :( I heard so many amazing things about it and since Doa3 is the best in the series IMO makes me upset about it not 2 be sold in the U.S. Im more upset because 3.1 will only work on a japanese xbox and mines stop reading disces
:( well, aleast DOA5 will have the right tools just like Doa3.1 but better ;)
Ebay or Amazon is your best bet.
EDIT: Didn't see your xbox stopped reading discs

-Lmao, I remember that. We had a little inside joke while playing 3.1.

Am I the only one who thinks that DOA3 is the least pretty of all the DOAs?(Minus DOA1s and DOA2 DC/Arcade, of course!) It could just be I don't like the over-glossy look that everyone has.

So you're saying that it's the least pretty of ALL of the DOAs, except for the ones that came after it (2 games out of 12)?

That's like saying "I'm the shortest guy in the world, except for the other 5.8 billion people who are shorter than me."

DoA3 looked best on 360. Pasty white Ghost Genra was amazing!

Well, actually, I'll be completely honest. I still think DOA2 for the Dreamcast looks better than DOA3. I don't know what it is about DOA3's style, but something about it just turns me away. All the others look superb, in my eyes. There's really no real way for me to explain.

Although I respect your opinion:

Although both are very good looking games for their time. Nothing beats the scenic overview of the Sunset Beach stage when you reach DOA3's title screen. That, the Azuchi, Lorelei, Snow, and Autumn stage are to me the most beautiful stages they have ever created.

The stages I can readily agree with; they are superb beyond almost all other stages they have ever made(Except for a few of them from DOA2U, and that Northpole stage from DOA5. My word.). When I was saying that I thought DOA2 looked better, I was instantly thinking about the characters instead, not of the actual environments. I guess that was a bit silly of me.

I believe in regard to the characters, DOA3 made them look a bit more "plasticy" but had greater texture resolution. The theme for DOA3 was certainly darker than previous iterations. Most of the stages are very dark in atmosphere: Lorelei's lower levels, Cave, Oil rig, Coliseum, and outer Azuchi.

Even the characters are markedly improved. Nostalgia is powerful.

Don't forget that the constant re-releases of DOA2 plays with people's nostalgia more often than a typical game would.

Yeah I've been playing it for the past days since I've pretty much abandoned 4 currently. I'm very pleased with how the game looks running on the 360.

How does it run on the 360? I've heard there are some issues with slowdown and frame skipping, but I don't know if that's true or not.

The game runs fine, but for whatever reason Genra's textures don't load. That's the only issue I've noticed, but I haven't put a ton of time in either.

Explosive Danger zones cause frame drop, and the anti-aliasing makes the screen appear muddy. Other than that, it's alright.

I'm probably the only one here who actually has DOA3 looking flawlessly on the 360. Not sure how the rest of you are getting those weird graphical glitches, because I'm not getting any.

I've played enough DOA3 to notice when the Xbox emulator is displaying it poorly.
