I think my problem with the recent sexualization issue is that it seems to have grown. DOA1 started with the bouncing breasts and the nude Kasumi in the intro, but that was about it. DOA2 and 3 were limited to promotional materials. However, the ads for DOA3, the "She kicks high" campaign saw a shift in the marketing, made even more explicit by DOAXBV's "tissues sold separately" ad and the many skimpy bikinis in the game.
It's due to the shift in society, it takes a lot more to shock people nowadays than it did in 1997.
DOA has been banking on shock value since day one.

Would have been nice to have a "bio gallery" for each character in DOA5U with :
- the name, age, mensurations, profession, etc.
- the summary of his/her story since DOA1
- some vintage renders and artworks

For instance, my friend who is not familiar with DOA has no idea who Leon is, who the fuck that Lauren he's talking about is and why he was added in this version.
So I showed the cutscene from of DOA2's story mode, and he was like "why is he wearing a turban if he's Italian ?"
So I Dervish Throwed him and he stopped talking forever.

He'd better not start mentioning Ein...

Haha, I was thinking about this in the shower yesterday (don't ask why), it would be a bit Tekken-ish from TN to do that, and I honestly cannot find a moveset or a storyline for this guy.

Perhaps he could have a clumsy fighting style. He could throw weird punches and kicks, and in his powerblow at the end he'll grap the characters breast (or nips) and squeeze them off making them fly over to the next direction.

His story could be to join the tournament to apologies to Lei Fang. And when he meets her and does it, she puts her hand up for a handshake as a sign to forgiving him. He walks towards her, trips on a rock, and gets back up with a hand on a boob. LOL

To maybe change the course of this conversation...

I really hope TN will consider a customization mode for DOA6.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Only if they do it as such:

There is a single "empty" costume slot for each character. Call it Costume 0.

In Extras mode, you are able to crest a custom outfit from the pieces of either existing outfits for the character.

You can choose a piece for

Head
Face
Hair
Upper Body
Outerwear (jackets, backpacks, robes, etc)
Lower Body
Arms
Hands
Legs
Feet
L1 toggle option
R1 toggle option
Underwear toggle options

This would allow us custom outfits, and giving us more pieces with each dlc pack, while preventing it from devolving into endless Soul Calibur-esque display marathons. Or at least minimizing it.

I kinda liked Tekken 6's customization, with individual pre-set parts. The only downside to it is it meant you had to buy whole alternate outfits. There should've been an all-unlock at once approach, too.

I will admit, it would be nice to have each outfit have a variation, like Bayman's DOA2U C1 having his DOA2U C2 as a variation, or Ayane's butterfly dress' variation being the white dress.

I'm not asking for create a character or anything, but I actually like Soul Cal's customization.
dunno.gif

Also, I would like the ability to change the colors of the outfits if it's gonna be a basic customization.

Can pick from existing palette swaps for that.

Again, I'm trying to enable customization while minimizing the cosplay. Compromise with me lol. I don't want am endless string if anime, comic and videogame cosplays like with Soul Caliber...

It's inevitable man, just accept it.

People making fan doujins somewhere and what's officially introduced in the game by the company are completely different. And I think that you know that and are being disingenuous.
I know it's disingenuous, it still points out the fact that if there's so many doujins, porn and hentai of these characters, people must find something appealing about the character.

Not to mention, just because games like Street Fighter and Tekken doesn't bank on it's fanservice, doesn't mean they don't have any(which again, only falls to the fact people don't like it because it dares use it as an advertising factor.

Games like Blazblue or Soulcalibur have not been immune from criticism either (Blazblue more so recently). There was a pretty big split when Julia from Tekken got "sexed up" into Jaycee and many people are sick of Asuka and Lili yuri-esque shenanigans. Dustloop is pretty split over the new character Elphelt's design. No one is ignoring it when other games do something dumb when it comes to sexual pandering. DOA is just getting it worse than those games. And I think that the "worse" is pretty proportional to how worse it actually is. They are going beyond a certain line of acceptable fanservice (just like other games sometimes do). People aren't just making stuff up. It's not like Street Fighter or Tekken decided to release gravure movies in game. They have done some fanservice-y things from time to time. But, everyone isn't going to just automatically be on the same level or in the same box because of it. Street Fighter is not automatically as bad as DOA because Juri exists.

And again, just because the developers divulge into it, does not mean the game suddenly suffers for it. This is the thing people fail to mention: The Asuka x Lili shenanigans have never affected gameplay, neither does Julia becoming Jaycee, Blazblue being anime fanservice or Elphelt and Ino in general for Gulity Gear. Sexual Pandering can be a pain, but despite how much I forward it, Soul Calibur is not a bad game and is damn good, so is Blazblue and DOA DESPITE those shenanigans, if they blind people into not playing them simply because of that and not any real concrete gameplay reasons, why should it matter?

You are living in a world of black and white. Come over to the world of color.
I'd rather live in a world of idealism(black and white) then be stuck in cynicism till I commit suicide(color)

I will always smack anyone upside the head if they say that DOA has nothing to offer besides fanservice, though. That is clearly not the case. The problem is that I don't think that TN ever makes that clear.
Considering they are doing their damnest to make DOA a competitive experience(through their own gain or not), I'm not really sure that's enough to make a statement on it's own past again, those insecure to the fanservice.

Despite what you say, all fighting games do indulge in fanservice(trust me, all the games I stated? I played), DOA being the one that advertises it should not be shamed simply because of it, I'd rather a 1000 times say that countering is not something that will destroy all offense than state 10 times to ignore the damn fanservice and play the freaking game and judge on it's own merits of gameplay.

...I just wanted to clarify my point, you guys can go back to talking about customization and such.

No, I like your idea, because it does allow customization(while mixing with DLC), which is cool, I'd be totally down with that, but I think adding a color palette to this idea would give it a bit more spice to the customizing. I'm just saying, if I was gonna make a thing like this for a game, I would want to give it a bit of life rather than just putting mismatching clothes together on a character.

I mean, I can already see people wearing a santa hat with half of a halloween costume, glasses, and flipflops... lmfao that would just be horrid tho hilarious.

Can we disregard the doujin and hentai and whatnot? It never resembles the girls in any way, to the point that the only way yo tell its supposed to be the DOA girls is that two of them are wearing ayane and kasumis distinctive blue ninja and purple butterfly skirt outfits.

Like half the mila fanart? No way totell its supposed to be mila without the DOA tag.

You can if you choose, I was mainly using for what the fans see anyways. While things CAN be sexualized, you can usually tell how much people want of something by how many doujins or it being in hentai.
If no one really found any of the women that sexy, you wouldn't be under a deluge of that stuff for Chun-Li for example.

The issue is y'all are looking at this from your perspective alone. As I've said many times I didn't pick this up cause I didn't even know it was a fighter and others have said they don't like playing it because it's embarrassing, "But you don't have to buy the fetish DLC" no you don't, but it's still there and if you play this there is no way to keep all of it from showing up on your screen. I still fear the day my dad walks in seeing bunny Kasumi with her crotch in my face.

Not to mention searching DOA or any news for it usually is more likley to bring up fetish DLC than a legit fighting game.
