Your Accomplishments During Your DOA4 Career

Since DOA4 is in it's final days of life and that the much anticipated, long awaited DOA5 is less than a week away from release, list what you would consider "accomplishments" during your DOA4 career. They can be whatever you want. Winning an offline/online tournament, winning a First to 10 with a rival, being victorious in Money Matches, achieving rank SS wIthout farming, writing the guidebook (hint hint), writing an extensive character guide, personally taking in a nobody and training them to be a force to be reckoned with, hosting a tournament, winning clan matches, being on the CGS, getting sponsored, whatever you want. If you mention someone in your resume that you bested, don't humiliate them and don't be offended if your defeat is mentioned in someone else's victory. It's simply stats and DOA4 history.

Pretty much your DOA4 resume so to speak.

Personally, I had blast playing this game even if a lot of the community despises this number of the DOA series. It wasn't just the game that was fun, it's the community as well. From getting dead last in offline tournaments to the online lobby shenanigans (I'm gonna miss those) to the old DOAC flame board.

Also, it would be pretty rad if the high level and sponsored players of the community could share their stories and resumes.

Here's my DOA4 resume

Gamertag: NykNyks
Past gamertags: NykkoMT, AfroNykko, ImNykkoWordUp (wth was I thinking when I made all these -_-)

Date off joining the DOA community: Early 2006 I believe on DOAC

Main Character - Lei fang :leifang:

Former clan - Hard Knock Academy (HKA)

Accomplishments:

-Getting 3rd place at a West Coast tournament in 2008 that boasted the likes of Punishere, Accurate, Sweet Revenge, and Koompbala. Second time I ever won money playing videogames.

-Eliminated Punishere in that West Coast tournament (I'm hunting that Lei fang of yours when 5 drops, ya best believe it!)

-Made the effort to support a dying tournament scene by showing up to 3 offline tournaments

-Competed in many online tourneys. Don't think I won any for DOA4 but I did win one in DOAU lol

-Convincing my mom to pick up a total stranger I never met that wanted to compete but didn't have a ride to a tournament. (oh you know, coulda been an axe murderer but it was just a DOA player)

-Getting picked up by a then total stranger at the time (Koompbala) so I could have a ride to go compete in a tourney. (oh you know, coulda been a kidnapper looking for naive young teenage meat, but it was just a DOA player)

-Winning a First to 10 Mirror Money Match against Sweet Revenge. We used Lei. He doesn't use Lei but I consider it an accomplishment given that he has far more superior knowledge than I at the game and is an overall really difficult person to defeat no matter who he uses. This was also the first time I won money playing

-Stopped playing the game from 2009-mid 2012 only to return online and have my name and main remembered by more than a handful of people even when I had a new gamertag. Makes you feel like you've done something right in your quest for playing this game.

-Created a hilarious DOA4 YouTube video in scrambled porn definition quality that got over 100,000 views. It was the first video of its time that displayed all the character costumes. It's called DoA4 Costumes.

That's about all I can think of right now. I'll edit my post if I can remember anything else.

Final word: Looking forward to having incredible matches with everyone in DOA5. I hope to play all those that I have not played in years. R.I.P DOA4, Viva La DOA5! All you young cats, despite what you've read, it's a general rule of thumb to not trust online strangers as you could one minute be excited to head to DOA tourney then next minute end up bobbed & gagged tied to chair in a basement :(

Lol, nothing but hate from every comment on that video.

Sadly, my accomplishments are from the past two weeks that I've owned the game, and I can only think of one:

-Deranked an S player down to C+ due to his fatal error of randomly choosing who to fight me with. He got Tengu. His vocal disdain was so hilarious from this that it is now an inside joke between me and other players in the area.

Yeah, that's about it... Hope this list grows much larger in the next month or two.

My accomplishments consist of getting offline gatherings going with people from the Bayarea-Sacramento area for a while. I didn't play much online because I hated it online. Also my best accomplishment(after the offline thing) was getting rid of the crappy game.

Ah man, the crazy amount of memories I had in this game. Just thinking about it gets me all nostalgic and shi. To think that It has been like seven years since DOA4 came out! I friggen bought my 360 for this game! Without a doubt these were my most cherished gaming moments, and I swear, I could go on and on about everything to the point that I probably could go down to individual people on this board with all the fun times.

Vizierde aka PlayerNotHater
~30,000 matches
67-69% winrate
Clan: Hard Knock Academy (LMAO)

Offline Events:
  • Evo West 2006: CaliJared was there. Defeated David Sirlin (haha), got seeded only like 15 people showed up
  • Evo 2006 Sent to losers by Just Ownin, eliminated by OfflineSemi
I played a lot of endurance matches and participated in a lot of online tournaments, which I'll probably have to talk about in other posts if I ever decide to get to it, but here are some super memorable moments to me that I'll never forget that I remember CLEARLY to this day.
-Competed in many online tourneys. Don't think I won any for DOA4 but I did win one in DOAU lol
I'm glad you mentioned this because it gives me the perfect opportunity to clarify something for you while at the same time, a chance to talk about a memory that I'll never forget! Once upon a time in a random online tournament, Super Scrub Vizierde was able to find himself king of the winner's bracket. How? He sent NykkoMT to losers LMAO.
It was my Spartan vs your Fang and I remember it being *insert Punishere's voice* "heeellaaaa" close. Way back when, I remember handing out the free beatings to a B- Zach playing Nykko. Good times... HOWEVER, this was NOT one of those times. Nykko, you at this point in your DOA career you had FAR surpassed me. It was p.much to the point that you would p.much beat me like a good 85-90% of the time. I remember thinking you magically got good overnight. ANYWAYS...
I remember you and I both ended up in winners bracket and I totally thought that this was it for me: "Time to lose and shit, gaaaay," but I ended up playing my heart out and it came down to the last round of our set. Both our characters ended up in that low as shit for hp stage of the match, and we were all spacing and being like hella turtley bitches to each other trying to get the last hit in.
All of a sudden, I had, like, this godly moment of clarity and I saw ON REACTION a super bullshi lei fang splits kick 2f+k and I got you with a BIG ASS super pro "get the fuck out" low counter sending you to losers. and while the counter was registering my command, and while spartan was pulling her arm back to deck lei fang in her dumbass face, I REMEMBER TO THIS DAY, you saying, "AHHHH~ That's confederate!!!" HAHAHAHAH!!! Like what does that even mean?!?!?! I still don't exactly know, but I use that phrase when something bullshit happens to me because of this.
Nykko later went on to eliminate me twice in grand finals to win the tournament. I had no answer for him then.

Competed in 10 online tournaments and winning 7 of them. Placing second in the other and 4th in another one. Having a record of 51w-2L in Xdest's OEMA (Online Endurance Match Association). Being a valued player in DOAC's Championship League. Having had the opportunity of playing the best of the best of DOA and on equal footing. Being a skilled and competent Ayane player during the time I played.

Writing up two successful Ayane Guides and a comeplete overview with pros and cons of this character for DOA4.1, and continuing to help players who've come to me for help picking up this character and encouraging them to continue playing and improve as a player themselves.

This is priceless. I don't even remember that tourney to be honest! Great story. I'ma have to start using confederate again in my daily vocab. I remember we used to have intense matches way back when. Also remember you using Helena & Spartan. Good times. *Roll the dice* hahahaha

Man that was such a good story I wish I could "like" it twice!

So I bought DOA5, and I have to say, I was scared about the stability of the online and how the new system works, but I have nothing to worry about now. DOA5 is awesome, and it's already something I'll be falling in love with. Anyways, let's do another story about accomplishments/whatever:

ENDURANCE MATCHES
I always like challenges and hype. That's one of the reasons why endurance matches were so fun. You got to put yourself on the line and it really meant something to beat someone in an endurance match. No one could argue luck after winning decisively. That being said, I never had fear of losing either. Losing was just another opportunity to improvement myself and I always attempted to put myself in these challenging "everything on the line" situations. Sometimes it was a good way to test yourself.

One of these times, I made a deal with ImpactFinale, known leader of the very once populated Impact Clan, and we decided to do a good ole fashioned Endurance Match first to 10. What were the rules? If he had won, I wuld have totally had to change my gamertag and join his clan. I remember winning and after playing very serious, but it was still p.crazy memorable to me because I actually gave myself a real life consequences if I were to lose.

RANDOMLY COMING ACROSS PROS!!111ONE
Some other random stuff I remember that sorta requires some background information. Throughout my DOA career, be it in DOAU2 or DOA4, I ALWAYS played in online public rooms allowing ANYONE and not discriminating against any rank. Rank didn't matter to me and I thought it was all about playing everyone and anyone and never backing down from a challenge. I was against how some people, who were usually really skilled than most would make private rooms with each other and never play any "common" peeps. I was totally against this mentality because how would other new players get the chance to face them and get better? I lived by this mantra because I was forged in the fires of public rooms myself, so I in return would play out in the open. Shit, I did this even if it was laggy as shit.

That being said, when I happened to stumbled across hecka top players or something from DOAC or whatever, I'd get pretty excited and it was always really memorable because it would actually be a rare thing to see. I remember once seeing Offbeat chillin' in a room by himself once, and I totally jumped on the opportunity to fight him. I played his Ein 1 match first to 3 normal life against my Helena and like destroyed him in all three rounds. I pretty much thought I was the shit afterwards, but then he flat out beat me down in the next 5 matches, lmao.

A similar experience happened with Xdest where I magically mid countered his Ayane like a billion times in a every round to win the match. I remember I couldn't even finish Hayabusa's izuna drop, but I was still able to counter Xdest's stupid 6p and 4p with Ayane to the point where he was like "zomg wtf" over the mic. After that, he detroyed me like 29 games str8 while pointing out some of my flaws as a player. Lol I really appreciated it at the time even though he seemed kind of frustrated. GOOD TIMES.

My greatest achievements was unlocking everything in the game, reaching 100 wins to compensate for my 250+ losses, and obtaining a B- Rank after a full year of playing : D

This is probably my #1 problem with the game.. All this "Show love for the community" and "This is your game people support it" is all fun and great to say.. But how about the people that say that also go online instead of going private with ur pro-buddies everytime u play this game.

Won more tournaments then I can remember, most notable being the King of the Ring. Winning my 'retirement' match against Nadia Santos, who apparently is a guy, and posting a win percentage over 50% against everyone I played more than one game with.

The thing that I'm most proud/happy about though was that I was that my name was associated with the top Hitomi's.

Why play with lower level players when you could play with good people to get better? It's not like they asked to play against us.

Most of us just played with other people who traveled. If you traveled and played chances are you were inviting to spar because we knew the reason we were there to play. Most of the online people would take a win and go post about it on the forums claiming some weird stuff. Why even bother playing with those people?

At the end of the day people play with people that give them a challenge. They are called sparring partners.

1. Inspire those same lower level players to continue playing
2. Show them where they stack up against the self proclaimed top DOA players

Some of you guys just have your heads stuck so far up your own asses you can't see the daylight

Dude not to be a dick but your being a captain obvious right now..

Yes I get it you don't wanna play against scrubs I've played this game I know the feeling when someone is dominating to the point where it's not a fun nor a learning experience for either player.

However there are lots of people dying to play some of the more "famous" players in DOA. I won't call out any names but I think everybody knows a few people they always wanted to measure up skills against..
And if they brag about it on some forum who really gives a shit? I tried claiming a win in a FT5 against a more known player once and in the end you always lose being the lesser known scrub who probably won due to online being for scrubs.. Trust me it won't stick.

Just saying I appreciate people going to tournaments and traveling for it. But if you never go online you don't have the right to claim you're supporting the community.

Really we don't play online? We don't post articles about our findings for characters? I have played most people in this community if they ASKED. I don't go around looking for the next big player.

The reality is no one feels like dealing with some online kid who isn't traveling anyway. Why bother wasting time on this scrub when I could either be in the lab or playing with people who are trying to level up in some form. Now I'm all for helping new players. I get messages from players who want help with certain character(s) and even if I don't know the character in depth I can give them some beginner tips to help them get started.

Just because we don't sit in open rooms for all to see doesn't mean we aren't supporting. Real support is finding information with your character(s) and providing that info on the forums. Real support is showing up to events (especially if they are nearby). What you are saying is that because we aren't telling newer players HOW to get better and because we aren't in open rooms 75% of the time we aren't supporting. How about many of us are actually friends in RL and we happen to be top at the game we play so we like playing with each other instead of with randoms?

You're acting really elitist right now which I didn't wanna point out was the reason people didn't go public but you're making it kinda obvious. Did you forget where you came from? I don't even know you yet I think it's safe to say you and most of the people who go to these offline events started online. They made their friends online, found those sparring partners online, basically the online scene gave them the confidence and skill they needed to even go offline in the first place. But how will the new generation of players find out if it's worth going offline if the top players are nowhere to be found in the online scene?

I disagree your claim to support a game when you only play a limited amount of players who are already gonna show up to offline events anyways. I'm not saying you can't choose to play with just your friends or never go public but don't say you're supporting the game and don't expect people to make that step from online to offline.
