There is so much wrong with this post. I was cool with your first post in here. Now your just preaching to us. Not only that, but there's a lot of holes in your logic.
Actually, I suggested leaving them alone on Leon as well. I'm happy enough that he's back, but honestly the new culture of asking for favours and petitioning for fanservice on TN's twitter is just a bit embarrassing.
It would appear you don't speculate much you're more for conclusive stuff. That went well didn't it? You told people to stop asking for Leon and low and behold he came back. It was even said during E3 "Ein and Leon got a lot of requests" so we brought them back. What does that tell you exactly? Oh hey don't request characters on twitter because clearly they don't take requests. I will say it again they said during E3 if we get enough requests we will think about Tengu.
Honestly I don't think Leon has many fans compared to other characters. What I believe brought him back is the sheer creativity. I wanted him back myself, but not enough to twit. Through EmperorCow's silly contests for fun. That got TN to notice we Tengu users may not be big in numbers, but there have been a lot of creative things done with him. If he comes back it will be that creativity that brings him back and the dedicated fans.
I don't know what world you live on it must not be from here because there is nothing wrong with requests. Fanservice is a really general term, so you could be talking about titties, and ass or you could be talking about doing fans a service by bringing characters back. There is nothing wrong with twitting requests in any game. I watched coverage of FFIV and the director looked at 700+ requests on twitter. Social media plays a huge factor in game development nowadays.
When one gets to the point of begging for bra and panties, or more titties then yes I agree. Despite how much I hate costume talk. I will even go as far as to say there is nothing wrong with costume request. In any game its only when you get to the point of skimpy things where it gets sad and embarrassing. There's nothing wrong with costume, stages, music things that don't necessarily have to do with mechanics. Those are okay to request.
Just the same as with Tengu, they'd already factored in the feedback and a campaign post launch did nothing. The new iteration of the game makes it a different story.
They didn't factor in dick. Do you know Shimbori-san? Do you have tea with him everyday? I'm really curious as to how you know that they factored in whether Tengu is gonna be in, or not. I will sound like a broken record. During E3 they said they will think about Tengu through requests. You know what they factored in? If he comes back its through requests. If no one requested him no use putting in a character that will never be used. That is what has been factored in. The evidence tells me they don't do dlc characters, but when they do new versions the evidence tells me they take character requests.
Anyway, not saying you can't have your hopes and dreams, but think about the timeframe - the decision has been made. They won't change their minds and add the character based on this "campaign".
Cool story bro. During E3 they said if Tengu gets enough requests we will think about adding him. That is number 3 now. The only time frame to think about is this. Tengu gets enough requests he will be put in. If he doesn't then he won't be put in. That's what I'm thinking about. Nothing is final til this game comes out.
They know there are people who are interested in the character, and have either factored that in and are yet to reveal it, or they made a decision not to devote the resources. Not really arguing the merits of whether Tengu is a good character to have in the game or not.
They said during E3 that he may get added if he gets enough requests. That's number 4 your making me sound like Britney Spears song womanizer. That's great your not arguing the merits whether or not he gets added. I really don't see how this is a "Ultimate version" without more returning characters. I honestly believe they should of waited even longer and added even more returning characters for it to be deemed "Ultimate". If Tengu doesn't make it this should be DoA5++ really. Tengu barely makes it Ultimate considering he would be the only other boss character.
Just a comment on the reality of the situation considering the timing; and uneasiness around begging the developer to change things mid stream based on begging vs their own vision of what DOA5 should be. If they decide Tengu is a good fit, great. But if they don't, please don't beg.
Your first post you brought up a valid point I even liked it but disagree with it. Now I officially don't care you can go preach somewhere else. Many developers have been "begged" before for something and it got added. The only person uneasy is you I know DR2K doesn't like these requests either, but he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy to be uneasy, so again its just you.
"Their own vision of what DoA5 should be" I don't like that. The first iteration in a series is very much about the developers vision. Once an IP is established it very much so has to do with the fans. If the fans don't like something why buy it? Our opinion matters a lot a developer would be stupid to ignore their fans. You know how social media plays a big part in development? Its the fans they are the ones on the sites requesting things/changes. The fans alone are the sole reason why some things gets added/changed.
Don't give me this hogwash of begging doesn't do anything or requests don't do anything. There are a lot of contests in games nowadays. Like art contests, or create a "x" event where your creation gets added, and even certain dlc is just for fans. "Fans" buy games - "Fans" plays games - those contests are for "fans" - so "fans" matter - the "fans" opinion matters - that means "fan requests" matters.
Finally my last point you said not to beg this is what the director of the game said. During E3 it was said if we get enough requests we will think about adding Tengu. They told us to "request" him not beg. No one in here is begging for Tengu just requesting. So yeah you can take your shit somewhere else. No one wants to hear it in here.
