Character list leaked from Demo's EXE

But did anyone really doubt that the characters on the list would return? The interesting part is actually seeing how they changed their design, not reading their names on a list. I don't think that reveal changes much in their PR plan, other than the Pai and Sarah reveal being ruined.

The VF characters are huge reveals. Imagine if we all knew Akira was going to be in the game two months before the Akira trailer... through a similar leak. The trailer wouldn't have been anywhere near as impactful. Not to mention we can assume that this is the entire roster. There's no guessing or speculation to be had anymore... at least not like what would happen if we did not have this leak.

I think we're better off knowing the list now rather than being disappointed down the line. Now it's not about "Is my favorite in the game?" it's the anticipation of actually seeing that character in action.

another vf character (making them all tidy in a line) , ein , tengu , and the random select button ... that would make a select screen with 28 characters ... if they decide to make it in the form of a pillar in the middle ...

Yea, but if you already know the characters are there, you already know they are there.

It doesn't matter if its going according to "the plan". The list has already been posted on major sites. There is nothing they can do about that. A PR guy simply confirming whats already known isn't going to lessen the impact of some trailer. The list already did that. If the general public saw the list, they saw the response from tecmo's PR. If they didn't see the list, they didn't see the response, and it wouldn't change anything in regards to future trailers.

But playing dumb like this is bad policy. It's never a good idea to talk to your customer like they are an idiot (unless they actually are, in which case you do it very carefully).

Furthermore, at this point in time, anything about the game itself is subject to change. Will "Mila" and "Rig" even make it into the final version of the game, let alone be actually named as such? Or what if the listings for Pai and Sarah are only half accurate, because only one of the two actually made it into the final version of the game?

It's all a bunch of conjecture, but again, for most PR guys and girls to be as far away from the actual game development, it's honestly "safer" for them to just not comment on such things. If people get butt hurt by some future development down the road, the least that Tecmo and Team Ninja can say is that "we didn't go on record to confirm things one way or another~!"

In short, CYOA is definitely in play here, just as it is with any other line of business.

Good to see Gen Fu is still alive and kickin'. I think Pai is a bit redundant though, with already having Lei Fang in the game. I'd like to see Goh, Lei Fei, or Aoi in there.

Yeah. Akira and Kokoro as well.
But I guess with Akira being the icon of VF, he had to make it in.

I'm hoping for TKD and boxing (or boxing heavy MMA) myself. I'm not fond of SEGA and Tecmo's attempts to smoosh Muay Thai and boxing together.

For me, it makes no sense that Leon makes it to the game and Ein doesn't... Leon doesn't participate in the story and nobody plays as him while Ein has a big fanbase (myself included) in the four games he's appeared.

Leon is my secondary, making him my backup. Him and Bass are the only character I play right now and he's a really solid and underrated character.

Rig sounds like a name for a badass character for some reason. It's like, "What's your name?", "It's Rig.", "Rig what?","Just Rig...nothing more, nothing less."

Then BAM! Kicks a ton of ass.

He can be our mysterious cool dude character that shows up to kick ass right when he needs to.

I really do hope they give him a more mature look. They did OK with him in DOAD, but not by much. Longer hair doesn't really help, maybe a little shorter this time. And better costumes.
