I mean, you don't have to be all that good just to get a win. You can suck with a character BAD and still get winstreaks.
In my book there are 2 different extremes of the player spectrum in DOA:
1) The player who utilizes a wide variety of a character's attacks/throws/holds for the sake of showing off to the other player that they know most of their character's moves and know when/how to pull them off. I call these the "flashy" players which looks great during fights but isn't necessarily effective especially at high-level play when every move counts.
2) The player who knows what attacks/throws/holds their characters have that will yield the highest amount of damage and will rely almost entirely on these during fights. Now granted it requires playing mind games with the opponent with some other less damaging moves scattered in here and there to prevent being too predictable. Based on what I've seen this is often an effective approach even if games "appear" to look repetitive. These are the players who are often called "spammers" by opponents who have (most likely) lost.
3) Then you have players who fall somewhere along that spectrum.
Keeping that in mind, what it comes down to (and where all this debate is coming from) is how [insert player's name] believes the game should be played (and clearly we all have different views). So this whole calling each other "bad players" and "spammers" needs to stop as it belittles a players effort and skill. If what you're doing is working for you (and/or you're enjoying it) keep doing it and no one should be criticizing you for it.
