Rikuto is doing a damn fine job on commentary; especially in light of the bullshit he has to put up with right next to him. Seriously, nearly every time she opens her mouth it's her not understanding something, calling yet another normal move a power blow, touting the fact that she has tits and is a gamer and loves similar people, butchering her native language (Estatic? Volumptuous? Try 'ecstatic' and 'voluptuous.'), or subtly insulting Erik. Also, her incessant need to point out that she was once paid to play DoA and talk about her rivalries and camaraderie with CGS or WCG people is unbelievably annoying. I could say more but I'll save it for non-public discussion.

Rikuto, you're a god among men for not stuffing a sock in her mouth, rolling your eyes, or just telling her to shut the fuck up. Seriously impressive restraint. Most people don't have to put up with a stooge when they're shoutcasting. Bravo. I applaud you.

Dear Kat: stop correcting Rikuto, interrupting him, laughing at things you don't understand, calling every move with knockback properties a power blow, and...you know what? Stop talking.

thanks should of fig, It would be nice to actual see more DOA players there. It makes me wonder if all the IPL tournaments are going to be run like this one. In places were the not so famous people can get in. I also get the feeling that the way the pools were setup that only sWooZie, Vanessa, Master & Chosen1 are in the finals. Ill be using my money for EVO and comic con so wont have any other cash to travel. But a list of other places they plan to be would be nice

I'd like DrDogg to get up on commentary with Rikuto and break down the game a bit more if possible. Kat's nice but her commentary is a little too "e-sports" generic and can get a little tiresome. Rikuto needs a bit more air time but he's being a little too polite and not putting his foot down enough. I know he doesn't want to come off as rude for fear of not getting such an opportunity again but, at the same time, if he comes off as a pushover then I don't see him being welcomed back for that reason and that would be a shame too. Hopefully he keeps that in mind and is a little more assertive in his commentary in the coming days.

While I agree with everything you said, they do make the commentators ask each other(that would normally be dumb questions to us) dumb questions for the audience whom is new or hasn't been around for a while. Also the moves that she kept saying were PB usually were the PB's just they aren't activated yet because of the health the person was at.

I wouldn't be quite as critical of Kat, but I agree the moments when Rikuto gets the chance to lay down some gameplay analysis it's been quite good.

There's a little bit of conversational commentary but it can be difficult especially if the two people don't have complimentary styles, and I think its difficult with Kat not throwing open gameplay questions.

I reckon if Rikuto pushes a bit more on the situational commentary, analysing the game state and what players could do, and what they must be thinking/aiming at, Kat will probably catch on a little better and provide colour.

They've done okay with the jokey stuff here and there but its a little awkward... maybe they just need to talk faster and get hyped up.

I noticed Ayane got her command throw back, but it was escaped.

Is it the old version or did Team Ninja forget to congratulate me . . . :(

I saw Wedge do that throw but it seemed like she didn't know what to input next. There was a bit of delay before the opponent escaped.

1k times this. At first I could cope with all of those things you mention, but then there were moments I wished Rikuto pull some Bayman grapples on her to shut her up. Well, that would be too much, lol. So yeah, I say this again: Rikuto did an AWESOME job.

Overall, I enjoyed the couple of hours I could watch of the show.
Btw, Rikuto mentioned Awesmic when Kat commented on Christie's sweaty boobs xD

I want to know how the holds work now. From what I gather, if you're not in a standing stun, then you can't hold. And if you're at the end of the stun threshold, and do a specific attack, you get an unholdable stun. Rikuto said he can do a stun with Baymen where you only get one chance to hold so I'm guessing Baymen can put you in a lot of non-standing stuns.

its casual play level .. i dont think theres much to get hyped up about .. i think they both did a good job ..

if i was the commentator i would be getting stomach ulcers at all the lost opportunities for air juggle .. and the lack of holds .. and the stupid 1 button strings ..

i think for that level of gameplay rikuto and kat did an awesome job .. and im surprized at the positive tone rikuto kept despite the shit on the screen ... i think he did great ..

I caught some of the stream, but I only saw one Tina player and he wasn't particularly good. To be fair though, I guess I didn't really expect anyone to be given how little time most people have had with the game. I saw enough to see that she got her 3.1 air throw juggles back, and this pleases me. Does anybody know if she's got her ground throw setups as well?

What was up with the Madcatz logo on the stream but them banning the use of arcade sticks? On Stream, one of the event runners talked about Kayane being upset about this and laughed at it. What?

Does anybody know if she's got her ground throw setups as well?
None of the players are particularly good because most of them aren't proper DOA players, just general gaming press and a handful of others that are attending E3. Despite that level of play there was an okay Tina player that hit an Akira player with :1::K: multiple times but the other players was able to tech quite quickly and I didn't get the impression that she could get :2::P+K: off of that again. =(

Eh, I still prefer it over Swoozie's time 'commentating', "Yeah, we're not going to commentate for you *mocks commentary* so we're just going to talk about wagering shirtless push-ups."

Mystik was getting annoying to me though. I wouldn't say I could probably do any better as I typically have speech issues, and I know it must be nervous to be on the stream with 14,000 viewers. The most annoying part I had with her commentary was the phrase "It's anybody's game".

Outside of that, I give her the benefit of the doubt right now as she could have just been nervous. I look forward to the next two days of commentary in all honesty.

Good job Erik.

Rikuto did a great job with the commentary. Kat on the other hand...

Anyway, I'm very excited with the game, Akira really feels right at home in DOA and Kokoro, Tina and Leifang are simply too beautiful to be true. I literally can't wait for the moment they reveal Jann Lee and Helena.

I noticed most of the players were not very good and didn't use most of the core mechanics in the game like holds, punishing, sidestepping and juggling. Hell, even Swoozie failed to punish and correctly juggle a bunch of things with his Kasumi. But I'm just too happy about how the game is shaping up, I love it.

Only the 4 or 5 of them actually know or has a good idea on what to use. This is the first time the public is touching this particular build. So screw ups and oblivious play is going to be plentiful.
