I live in Australia, so unfortunately there are (virtually) NO players on XBL.
I just want to play people with good connections and good attitudes. Skill level (whether higher or lower) is a lesser concern for me.
Heck, there are people in the USA who can't even have lag free matches with 5 bars. But I understand your pain, somewhat. Lol

Freckly ginger Bayman and pink-haired Helena for me.

Because I think they look horrid. >.< They are perfectly fine the way they are. I'll never get why people would change character designs of characters, they supposedly like so much. Mila having long hair, Momiji short hair, Helena having pink hair and Bayman being a ginger... It just doesn't fit them at all. Sometimes it even goes completely against their character. Would Helena really dye her hair pink? Here in Europe only confused, old grandmas and some punks/emos would do such a thing), not dignified young women. There often actually is a meaning behind certain physical attributes a character is given by the character designer. They are not only supposed to look cool, flashy and pretty.

Well if Tina has a reason to be brunette all because she had brown hair in 1, why can't they?

Besides, Hitomi had a costume with blonde hair in 4 and so does Ayane in 5U (she previously had strawberry blonde hair in 1). Even in previous games, Leifang had blue and purple hair. No one ever did questioned why they got that hair color.

Also, you said Momiji would look good in a bob cut and gave her one. XD

A freckly ginger look could be good for a new character, but not for Bayman.
Maybe TN could give us an Irish soccer hooligan character?

I'm thinking more of a mix between brains and brawn like he looks and dresses nerdy/geeky but is actually ripped underneath lol. Probably someone around 18-19 would be nice. The male roster lacks anyone around Eliot's age.

But to be honest TN is trying to go a more realistic route with DOA5 and I highly doubt that it's fitting of Helena's character to dye her hair any color, let alone pink. And with Bayman, same thing.

Hitomi's costume was to resemble Alice in Wonderland and same with Ayane with someone from WO. Personally I can see Tina going brunette. She looks really good and it fits her character.

Think of it this way... We get the fan service to fund the balances and future iterations... Shinbo n hayashi said it themselves .. this stuff sells way better and at the end of the day a company like TK needs numbers in order to greenlight future projects.

They arent shallow.. but the company simply needs the money if its gonna do anything more in the future.

I totally understand the situation here, after all I'm a dev myself so I know what's going on their minds.

I'm sure the bikini packs sell well and make good money for TN...

But this is just downright creepy and it gets embarrassing for me to showcase the game to people and especially when this subject or the items pop up, so I sometimes try to go along with the joke almost to the point of ridiculing myself. It's hard making counter arguments to this, so it ends up just being me trying to be cool because I don't want people thinking I'm some weirdo. The problem is not with me, it's with the presentation and marketing being sometimes the deterrent to the growth of the game.

But who the fuck cares anyway? Online is where it's at, yo.

I all seriousness, I blame the community, not the dev. TN didn't want to go this direction until they were told to do so by the community.

Leifang had blue hair during DOA1 and also in some versions of DOA2. She had purple hair in some costumes in DOA1.

If they are really going for "realistic", then shouldn't Mila, Christie or Ayane just flaunt their "real" hair color rather than have red highlights, white or purple hair colors?

Why can't Helena have a striking hair color for once? Are they the only ones entitled to sport them off? She already got a bow that looks barely visible in most of 5/5U's dark stages.

Mila and Ayane are young rebels. Dyed hair fits them perfectly. Though I think Ayane's hair is supposed to be naturally violet. They made that choice many years ago, when DOA was still very anime-ish and stuck with it. Christie's hair is probably supposed to be naturally white too.

If there is no room for last minute changes before "DOA's anime style turns realistic", then Mila's a contradiction to that direction as she was created after that era, meaning she should have not been given highlighted streaks.

I wouldn't blame the community (western at least). DOA has been sexualised since the first iteration and as far as I can remember during the release of doa5 I saw no requests on here, doaworld or on twitter to sexualise the characters further. Just take a look at these forums now and you will see 90% of the community is against the blatant sexualisation. If any part of the community was calling out for more sexualisation, I'm guessing it was the Asian community.
My theory is that TN wanted to market doa5 to the casual triple A gamers, but when they realised they weren't going to break that market they thought 'Fuck it, lets just go back to business as usual' and instead claimed that it was the community who wanted the sexualisation back..

Dyed red hair isn't unrealistic though. I know 3 girls with dyed red hair, yet I've never met anyone with purple or dyed white hair.

It's pretty "realistic" to me, that a tough, rebellious girl gives red streaks to her hair. Also it's realistic, that crazy Zack would dye his hair green or Tina dying her hair from brunette to blonde. What's not realistic: Helena dying her hair pink. It just does not fit her character...like at all!
